Is it worth the upgrade to a ZL1 from an SS?

A dealership near home has a ZL1 on special, brand new 2013 ZL1 for $49,995 ! here is their web page :

http://shawgmc.com/New-2013-Chevrole...ta/vd/17778849

I currently have a 2011 2SS, got it brand new last year, still paying her for almost about the same price tag !
But anyway, I am not planning to switch my SS at the moment, but this is tempting ! I've never driven a ZL1 before....is it worth the upgrade ?? or what do you guys think ? I think im going tomorrow to take a closer look.

I would figure out roughly where your payments are going to be... That's what ultimately it comes down to..

At least it is red like your current camaro.

Like others have said, if you can afford the additional payment then go for it, especially a 2013 (I am not a fan of the new rears). A stock ZL1 is much better to drive and play on. Microfiber seats fit like gloves and mag ride is awesome. Plus, modding is a lot cheaper to do since a stock diff can handle over 1000hp..

If you can afford the hit you will take on trade in plus the new car payments YES.

Positives

-Cosmetic appearance items
-Suspension upgrades\brake upgrades
-Performance upgrades
-Interior upgrades over you 2011

Factory warranty to cover you performance upgrades.

Now if you were just upgrading your SS to a 1LE then I would say no.

I would do a little homework on the value of your car first, before you head over to check out the ZL1. You need to check out the car and drive it and see for yourself what the difference feels like when you drive it. I have not driven the ZL! but I have heard comments that although it is a boost in the horsepower the ZL1 is not a big jump in power. It is hard to tell without driving the car since GM really detunes these cars coming out of the factory. If they want to move the ZL1 then they will work on the trade in for your car and put a deal together you can live with, if not go and drive the ZL1 and let us know what you think.

Make certain you can afford the car, not only today but 6-months down the line when the new excitement of the purchase wears off. The reason you see so many of these high end muscle cars for sale is folks get so wrapped up in the purchase excitement they over extend themselves and soon have to put the vehicle up for sale. It happened to me with a SRT8 Challenger I loved the car but quickly realized I was spending too much money to own it. That being said this is a great price for the car.

This sounds like a super price for this vehicle - especially in Canada. Is that $49,995 in US Dollars? If not, what would the price equate to in USD? I would say, if you can afford it and really want it - do it! Beautiful car.

Check your insurance as well. Mine went up 40% from my 2010 SS, but some of that is probably from going to a vert.
