They cost about $55k with good options. The diesels I was looking at were 6.7 L turbo rated at 400 hp and 800 ft. lbs. torque. Anyone who says a stock F250 can take or even hang with a stock camaro SS doesn't have a clue what the hell they are talking about. Modified may be a different story. They feel fast for a truck, but they are still a big heavy truck. If theyre running 11s and 12s, it s more than just a programmer.
I hear you man, $55K with good options is alot of money to have a speedster.
If I wanted a speedster to race properly. I'd still have my camaro as a daily driver, then either have a Corvette z06, or a cheap used import for $5000 and spend $10000 on it.

There are many Chevy, Ford, and Dodge diesels that will blow the doors of a stock SS. There is always someone faster out there.

Tune and exhaust can make an amazing difference on a diesel. If you see black exhaust be wary.

Race start at about 3:50

1/4 mile drag race with Nissan GTR vs 2002 Duramax Diesel. Race took place 7-30-2011 at Auto club drag way (fontana ca.) Diesel Wins with a 11.54 @ 123 Vs 12.4 with GTR

chevrolet duramax racing a mitsubishi 3000 gt at the midnight drags at rocky mountain raceway. The truck runs a 10 second quarter mile which is amazing considering the altitude at salt lake city.

Just slap one of these babies into your Camaro and get it tuned, then ask them to race!

What sort of performance does black exhaust indicate? All the diesels do that here, and from what I'm told, it's just caused by lack of oxygen at high elevation since were at 7,000+ feet.

13.6? There are faster stock 2005 GTs. I think you need the driver mod.

And there reply is, "I'll race you for pinks."

And my reply, "Sure".

And they say, If I wanted something fast I should have bought a truck like theirs which is a 1998 Chevy 1500 with oversize mud tires.

And I hear they've got a 383 stroker with 1100 Horsepower.

I get so frustrated hearing all this. If its true, where do they get the money. They make 10 dollars an hour. Ahhh.

Hahaha I hate this....I call it the jealous factor. My fiance's mom had a guy one night saying he could take her 65 cobra and just smoke her with a corvette and then she asked him where his corvette was and he didnt even have one hahahha

.
Except that he's racing a GTR, which is a turbocharged car, and guess what?, turbocharged cars with just exhausts and tunes can make an amazing difference too.

Thing is that you can basically set a diesel engine to "run away" in terms of power, but you are FRYING the components and the stress that its dealing with is far greater than designed. I had a buddy with said powerstroke pickup, he made crazy power and had a turbo+tune+exhaust. One day he actually checks the EGT and he's finds out what all that power is really doing. Needless to say he pulled back quite a bit.

Black smoke really dosent mean anything besides a lack of air for the amount of fuel. So it could happen at any power level.

Their chevy 2500 or 3500
06-07.5 are the best years to get imo.
A fuel pump and tune can get u high 12s for about $800
but gets expensive from there
4-7k for trans.
4-6k for turbo setup
8-15k for engine build
