I'd like to know too. Gel batteries have a certain advantage over the standard battery. In my '02 Corvette, the Gel battery was my preferred choice since the ECM and all the wiring was located under the battery. Had seen photos of a C5 Corvette where the stock battery leaked and melted everything under it. Major repair.

Guys - I'm going to check out the Odyssey PC925. Mostly for the weight savings and I don't have a high electrial load. I've purchased only Red Tops to date without issue but have heard nothing but great things about the Odyssey's.

Simply measure the current battery size and match it up to which Red Top will fit with the most capacity.

DEKA:
Come with M6 Thread on terminals - you will need adapter to SAE automotive Terminals.
Rebadged as BigCrank, Braille and other brands // BigCrank has cheap price .
(Proved and discussed on the vwvortex there is a whole thread about it.)
Odyssey:
*MJT: Metal Jacket + Terminals.
Also the Odysseys have battery mounting brakets avaible.
Miata Battery:
Duralast rates them at 330CCA, Marathon at 320CCA, Westco at 475CCA,
make what you want of this info but personally I'm not getting a Westco Battery
Made by EastPenn Mfg.
Sold under:
Marathon MAR-8AMU1R (1Year Warranty)
Westco 12V31M (4 Year Warranty)
Duralast 8AMU1R (8Year Warranty - apparently WAS avaible at autozone)

Optima's blow ass! Don't waste the money...
First time they loose a charge they are almost impossible to
recharge. Had one in my Saleen which is stored and forgot to
put the trickle charger on it after a drive. 2 weeks later went out to
start the car to get in my atic and DEAD...charged it until the next morning
DEAD, took it back to Autozone the lady swapped it for an Interstate, gave me back the difference and havent had an issue
Over-Rated and Over-priced...

Hot Rod mag (or Car Craft) recently performed the correct procedure on restoring and correctly recovering completely dead Optima's. They succeeded every time. I can only speak to my experience with them, and to date I've purchased 6 (included a yellow top for standby of my home 1/2hp sump pump), in various cars and trucks, and never have had an issue.

I ran into the exact same issue in my 85 Toyota 4-Runner and 96 Z28. They performed fine when they worked, but they didn't out perform the previous regular batteries.

Shouldn't have to depend on reading an article from hotrod magazine or car craft for a battery to function correctly, espicially a $190.00 battery. I'll take an $75.00 one and it'll do everything they will for less.

There isn't an exact fitment with the Optima's by group code.

Tell your battery guy there is this new invention called the internet. In less than a minute he can get all the info he needs.

For our Camaro's the correct Odyssey is PC1220. http://www.odysseybattery.com/batterysearch.asp
