AFM resonators will kill the sound when you combine them with the normal set of resonators & cats.

I had the same issue, I have a 2013 L99, and I couldnt believe for a V8 there was no rumble! 3 mods changed my cars life, the CAI, LT headers and Brola S-Type catback. It sounds like I have 10k of work in it lol, loving the sound! Also DO THE TUNE!....if you dont, your not going to be happy with how it drives. Literally night and day for me.

Be aware most axle-back options will not extend far enuff to remove the sound attenuators in the L99 exhaust.

You'll need to cut them out or go with a cat-back system.

It's the spring loaded "pop-off" valve in thses pics:

Its weak because GM unwisely put a truck motor in the car with AFM. They had to kill the ricer noise when in 4 bagger mode which is why there is huge resonaters and mufflers. If you truely want great V8 sound get some LT headers with a tune that leaves the car in V8 mode all the time.

We put a Magnaflow Street Series catback on the SS above followed by Solo HFC's.

Got the perfect combo of "modern, civilized-but-mean muscle car" sound the owner was looking for. AFM drone is more noticable but tolerable, although the owner is planning to tune anyway, but more for tranny performance improvements.

I would recommend this set-up to anyone (has me considering finally trading up for a V8!).

Did they change the piping on the 2012 models?

The "pop off" valves are only on ragtops.

BTW, wouldn't a simple 'muffler delete' resurrect the rumble? Those stock trash cans are horrible.

meh, somewhat but you'll still have that coffin sized resonator killing your sound.

I agree that the stock exhaust is very weak. I own a 2012 2ss/rs l99 and I recently installed a cai inc intake. The made a huge difference in the sound. The sound was deeper, louder, and sounded better overall when on the throttle. The sound is still not loud enough. So... I just purchased a borla atak exhaust. I can't wait to hear the sound.

If anything, pick up a stock LS3 car exhaust(you know everyones changed em, they'll prob sell cheap, prob some local to you), and delete the mufflers, you now have an un-resonated, un-muffled exhaust, with stock cats, should suffice for ya man.
