2010 SS Vs. 2007 Corvette
Do I stand a chance in hell? This guy I work with who doesn't even understand the term "mod" keeps tellin me I bought "a poor mans corvette". I have seriously had about enough. Only work done(yet, hehehe) is a CAI intake and a muffler delete.(Oh, LS3 also). His is a base model 2007 Vette, with a manual tranny. If I accept his challenge, Am I just embarrassing myself? Don't get me wrong, I respect the machine, just not the ass who drives it.

I think the base LS3 auto vette is running low 12's stock. But with a 400hp+ manual vs a 400hp+ manual a lot of it comes down to the drivers skill but if you both get clean runs he will be the victor.
I always felt better out driving my co-workers who had potentially quicker cars back when I use to drag race my modifyed 4wd diesel pickup. Anybody can throw down big bucks on a fast car but not everybody is capable of driving their new faster better car to its abilities on the 1/4 mile. Last edited by BigDan; 08-14-2011 at 08:36 PM. |

I think the OP meant his car is an LS3, 07 Vette is an LS2. I can tell you from experience that an LS3 SS is faster than an auto LS2 Vette stock for stock. Manual would be extremely close I would imagine. Your mods may give you a slight upper hand. Comes down to the driver.

You have to drive near perfect, he has a little more room for error. No way would I see you getting just flat out walked by this guy unless he has mods he's not mentioning.

As long as the the OP isn't as bad of a driver as the Camaro guy in the second video... There could've been mods on the Vette too, I don't think it said.
Those were all good races, I didn't see the Vette pull away hard till the Camaro guy got out of it. The Vette by half to 3/4 each race, that's about what you'd expect. |

Wow. The vette drivers in those videos can't drive...
Anyways, in my opinion, stock for stock, an LS2 C6 will win, driver's being equal. I traded a 2007 M6 Z51 in for my SS. It was definitely faster. If it loses to a stock SS...well, it because the driver sucked. |

Mid-high 12's...not much faster, but it should be faster than the SS in almost every instance, stock for stock.
I know that some of the rags out there had the LS2 as a 13.0 flat car...but it's faster than that. Plenty of slips out there to prove that claim. And my highly calibrated butt dyno agrees. The same rags call the SS a 13.0 flat car as well. We all know how much that that time varies. Hell, I'm a prime example of that one. |

Let me come down there and tell that ass he bought "a poor mans corvette" I hate people like that (not bragging just saying he's a douche and the only way to fix a douche is to out-douche them.
