But I just polished a little square and the swirls are gone. I used the black two stage turtle wax polish I normally used. I'm sure it still needs to be fixed but it could look better in the mean time.

What is a flash test?

But I just washed and dried the whole car. The sun is at three quarter sky and as hard as I try, I can't see ANY swirls or scratches. But I know they are there. I mean, it looks brand new again right now. But, what is a flash test?

Ok, snapped these real quick. Now when the sun gets to a certain point, I know I'll see the swirls. But the spot that I polished made them go away. Even in the sun. Probably temporary, but I don't know.

PQ, the flash test means firing the camera flash off into the paint about 8" away from the paint... As Junkman says "the light reveals all"

You can use any light source to reveal scratches and swirls, when I'm working on vehicles I use a halogen lamp to identify where I am in the correction process.

Me and my students are waiting too! Don't forget to use your camera's macro setting so that it can focus that close. Without the macro, your pictures will be blurry.
