My 2011 4 cyl Colorado gets 22.5 mpg as my daily highway commuter. This new model has to be better.

Make one a street truck with the twin turbo V6 (call it either an SS or Syclone, as appropriate). Give it a lowered stance, sportier wheel & tire combo, more aggressive fascia, standard hard tonneau cover, etc.

The other would done up in the pre-runner style. Give it the 6.2 (at least as an option over the regular V6), an off-road suspension (including a lift), bigger & more aggressive tires, maybe tweak the front fascia so that it doesn't hang down as far, and so on.

Each would be pretty awesome in their own right, and easily be the sportiest truck of their kind you can get from the factory. Doing both (but each for a different brand) would be a neat way to try and further differentiate GMC from Chevrolet. Things like the axles and transmission could very easily be shared, while elements like the front fascia would need to be different anyway so there isn't added cost in going two different routes.

And now that I've thought all this through ... I come to the sad realization that GM will probably never do such a thing, no matter how great it would be.
GMC Canyon/Cyclone
Chevrolet Colorado/Raptor-Killer

Could you imagine a Chevrolet mid-size truck outperforming the Ford full-size out on the trails?

That would be some major bragging rights right there

I like where your idea is going

I just read in the most recent truck trend that when Nissan does put out the Diesel in their new Frontier they are guessing at 28/29 hwy Mpg which is alright but I feel it should be in the 30ish range hopefully for the Colorado diesel cause 28mpg is what the full size eco diesel ram gets.

There's only a few things we need to know. Price, MPG's, and production start date. I actually think we know everything else. And we probably won't get prices for another 4-8 weeks.

Cruze launches in China pretty soon. That's why GM is showing off a bunch of stuff for it.

The trucks aren't set to go into production until sometime this fall, so they're at least 3 months away & probably 4 or 5

Not sure when they will start calling people.
But they are taking applications for assemblers here
until July 6th. These were for seats of the trucks ~

I read the 2.8 Duramax has a 2000 bar max fuel presure, is that correct. A quick conversion is almost 30,000 PSI.
