Invisicord for SS
I recently installed Invisicord for my Escort 9500ix. Here are some tips for those wanting to do this (very basic electrical skills needed). First, take the mirror off the windshield. This is easily done by loosening the one screw located at the base of the bracket. You will need a torq screwdriver (found in any hardware store), size is T20. After removing the screw, pull the bracket up along the windshield to reveal the wire clip. The clip pulls out with a little force. You now have the open wires and bracket to work with freely.
You will find two rows of wires, one row will have a black wire with a pink wire on the same side. This side will also have wires taking up all holes. The other side should have an open pin hole. Important***You will need to file down the pins on your invisicord to at least half. A simple metal file will do. Some additional filing may be needed. Next, insert the black sheathed pin (ground) into the black wire hole on the bracket. It may take a little force and a pair of pliers may be needed. The pin should insert up to flared area (close to the black or yellow colored sheath). Next, insert the yellow pin into the pink wire hole. Reattach your bracket to the mirror, slide the mirror back on and done. |

weird...I didn't need to file down anything.
I used the red wire (+) and the white/black stripe (-).

powerfreak, thought it was weird also, but just couldn't get pins to go in. after 30 minutes of trying in the 90 degree florida heat (105 in the garage), decided to file to about half. Was still pretty snug. Sorry ROE, no pics. Too f*ing hot by the time I got it together.

What length Invisicord did you use? 8in? 10in? 12in?

I installed an invisicord today, I also have a escort 9500 ix. The invisord plugged in OK, and I have 12 V running to the cord. I plugged in an RJ11 port and tested it with my meter. But it will not power on my Escort (which works fine with the Cigarette plug) Any ideas. Is there more than one type of invisicord. I bought mine form southern auto parts along with the camaro bracket.
