Alot has to do with the diameter of the ring gear to spread the load, a 2nd gen 10 bolt has alot stronger 8.5" ring gear than a 3rd and 4th gen and they are all solid axles.
A Chevy 12 bolt 8.75" and a Ford 9" are some of the stronger solid axles. |

My guess is if and when the Z28 is built it will have a much more beefed up drivetrain and motor especially if it has the LS9 which it will , the LS9 has forged aluminum pistons, polymer coatings, titanium connecting rods etc. so it will be capable of much higher HP , as for the SS well I guess we will find out once people like me start Supercharging them |

I'm just going to wait and see what mods break the camaro, and either
a) protect against those things breaking (tranny upgrades etc.) or b) not do those mods

I have a Summit girdle now and have been lucky so far. Being an auto' car, it's not as abusive as an M6 car, but that stall and DRs will put some stress on that rear. That LPW kit looks pretty cool though.

Regarding the oil squirters, I remember there was a huge detailed article someone posted that showcased the LS3 and showed the improvements over the LS2. If I recall correctly the has holes in the block for the squirters but I'm sure there would have to be more parts needed to install them and make them functional, as well as tapping the holes too. Another thing to look into if you plan on going all forged internally, you may want to add them if possible.

The LS3 is a bad boy. With very little mods they make over 500 Horsepower at the crankshaft.
The LS7 also responds to minor mods. There are people seeing 580 at the crank with a cam and tuning. I think that a lot of people are caught up in the heritage of the LS7. With it's CNC ported heads and TItanium Rods and Intake Valves it has more of a race background. Stick with the LS3 and you will be very happy! Or get that LS9 and have even more fun! Robin

How about some rich dudcrash his ZR1 and the junk yard sells me the ls9 for 500. Lol.
This is for the ones talking about using an lsa.. from what I remember the lsa does not have forged internals and is performing on the edge of the superchargers peak efficiency. But that's from what I remember reading up on a few months ago. It's still a great engine. Just not the best IMO. |

The LSA uses a TVS 1900 Rotor Stack. In the aftermarket that is good for 800 Horsepower. Packaging and design have a lot to do with what each application will make.
The TVS 2300 is good for close to 1000 horsepower in the aftermarket. Robin

I remember someone either on this board or tech asked the question about doing a pully swap on the lsa and someone with a lot more knowledge then myself said that it wouldn't do much good for the lsa. also if u are putting a ton of boost on none forged internals then u are setting urself up for failure.

hardly... you can do heads/cam/headers and get the same, possibly better gas mileage and not lose ANY drive-ability. I had a 383 in my 99 camaro that put out 450rwhp had stock drive ability and got 27mpg on the highway. |

As for the early post comparing the LS9 to the LS3, the only thing the same is the main journal diameter of the crank. Beefier block, different stroke different internals, different heads
