COBALT pads a BAD idea

Well the good news is they DO have better stopping power than any other pad I have used but the BAD news is they can absolutely tear up a rotor in a short period of time. I autocrossed my car ONCE for about 20 runs on weekend and that was enough to destroy the front rotors and I actually wore the outside pads down to where I needed to replace them tis weekend. They were very noisey and I could live with that but the pad material would absolutely coat the wheels and it of course was corrosive.

The HAWKS didnt stop as well but a much better choice in my opinion.

Try the Hawk HP Plus pads next time. They are THE pad to have for AutoX.

What pads did you have on the car front and rear? Road race cars are generally XR1 front and XR3 rears. Low speed/low temp setups like AutoX are generally XR3 front and rear.

Just like going to hot, to cold of an operating temp can effect wear rates too.

Speaking from someone that daily drove on HP+ pads, their dust corrodes the wheels too. Have to wash them at the end of the day with Hawk, Cobalt, or almost any race pad for that matter. At the same point, the finish on the wheel will affect how well the dust 'sticks' to the wheel.

CF pads are the best pad available for high performance driving in a 5th Gen. You'll go through two to three sets of rotors to one set of pads.
