wow, is he wrong. have an auto, been to the track 3 times now. also, just to answer a question - i raced a stock m6 with my stock a6 (not stock anymore, but was for this race) - beat him by .2 sec. i also saw an article by oppenheimer that stated the autos were faster than the manuals due to shift points and better traction.

The auto would win 95% of the time if racing a M6 given the same mods on the street or the track. Only about 5% of the drivers can actually drive the manual well enough to beat the auto.

I see it time and time again at the track. It is just really hard to get a good 60ft with a manual. You either spin or bog and both kill your times. Again, there are exceptions though with some really good drivers but for the most part auto all the way.

On the V6s they are according to the Fast list , but not the case with the V8s. 3 of the 4 Fast list catergorys for the V8s have M6s at the top! 7 out of 10 in the stock section are M6s. For Drag racing (bracket racing) an auto is the way to go for sure and for the higher H.P. cars also. Not to make people mad but ANYONE can drive an auto down the track. Thats why I wanted a M6 for the challenge and the fun factor not consistency. For those of you walking all over the stick cars with autos maybe your arent racing against the 5% that SRT10KLLR stated. I will say that if I planned on modding my car to the point of running 10s id have an auto. However stock or near stock ill take the stick car!

damn if i cant find that article...yet.

anyway, i see what you posted for your 1/4 mile time with your stock m6. i dont know anyone running that well with a stock camaro. i saw the timeslip - just dont believe its stock. the best ive seen a stock one do is 12.9. also, what was the temp, humidity and da the day you got that time.

ok here is a link to another thread that supports what i said about the auto and your unbelievable 1/4 mile time...http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5313

I dont know what's more dumb... your ricer friends or some of the replies in this thread.

A properly stalled auto will outperform, and most of the time be more consistant, and is easier to get down the track than a manual. Now a manual can put a two step/line lock on their car and almost get the same consistancy as an automatic, but the auto will almost always win the hole shot and will shift faster.

before one says "well look at the top blah blah blah blah list, the top ones have manuals". ask that few low percentage that can actually drive a manual down the 1320 (if you push the clutch in or lift off the gas pedal during a shift, you do not qualify, sorry), and ask them how consistant they run that ET.

OMG how many more guys are gonna doubt stocker is the real deal? The guy is an ace with a stick. Stick is his hobbie. He is pro most are not just like any other sport. Yeah Im sure hes not shifting in a conventional fashion but if most peeps tried to do what he does they would prolly need a dust pan and a broom to get their car home.

Thats fine , believe me your not the first to doubt it. There are around 9 guys that have ran faster than a 12.9 at this point and with cool weather coming there will be more before long! My 12.58 pass was in great weather high 50s and the DA around 0-500ft that day. Ive ran 12.9s since the first time I had it out with 525 miles on it last Oct. It also ran a 12.90 in the heat at Camarofest in Georgia. The fastest stock Auto at the fest went 13.3. There is no proof that the auto is faster stock , they are just more consistent!

i do doubt it, but im sure its possible. it makes more sense with the temp and da you stated, but just a really really good time for stock. good for you, must be a damn good driver.

Drag racing is all about consistency especially bracket racing. Your exactly right about our ETs being all over the place in stick cars. Its bad when your running a stock tire our having a ton of power and trying to make it hook. It takes a freak to make one consistent. Look out though when 1 of our 10 passes is a good one! As far as the BLAH Fast list goes. There are Hundreds of ETs posted up , it is the best source avalible to see how our cars compare to each other! Stock for Stock or with a few bolt-ons id take a stick car after the mods start coming Id rather have an auto (like you said with the right stall)!

Bolt on for bolt on a stick car with a seasoned driver will always win. There is no 11 second bolt on "auto cars".

I know this because of experience, not internet knowledge. We have a customers car that has consistantly went slower with every mod vs my mod. Even with my ported heads installed on his car. It wouldnt go faster then my car....

Yes auto cars are more consistant, no they are not faster.
