Unhappy HELP!!! P0700 code, tranny seems sluggish

Headed home from the store this evening.....

I merge on the interstate when I notice the CEL is on and the S (sport mode) symbol is blinking at me. Seems real sluggish in accelerating (I'm going around 70)...

I stop at the stop sign on the exit ramp...go to turn and it seems like the L99 is stuck in second b/c I really have to get on it to move....

I get home and the only code it is throwing is P0700 transmission control system malfunction....any ideas?

Thanks!

OK....I let it cool off...went out to start it and to recheck the codes...it is now also throwing the following codes:

p0716 input/turbine speed sensor circuit range/performance
p0717 input/turbine speed circuit no signal

I cleared the CEL and took her out for a spin for about 15 mins...she now has all the gears again and accelerates fine...does seem to shift a little hard still when I got on it but didn't throw anymore codes...

wondering whats going on.....

sounds like the input speed sensor glitched. if it does it aian then i would worry. what where you doing when it happened. And the reason it was slugish is it went into safe mode.

It happened right after I merged onto the interstate....I got on it kinda hard while I was merging but nothing really more than normal

The DLC didn't flash anything about safe mode that's why I was confused....I guess there is a separate safe mode for the transmission that still allows to travel at higher speeds? When I slowed down it seemed like it was stuck in a higher gear....

I'm going on a long distance trip with it in a couple of months...I guess if it happens again I will take it in....seems just kind of off to me though.....

I'm very familiar with 0700 series codes, on 4L60E's. What it sounds like is your TCC (torque converter clutch) may have burnt up which the debri from the clutch heating up and slipping clogs up the trans and causes poor fluid circulation which feels like a loss of power or rather the trans slipping. Probably going to need a flush and a new converter. I may be completely of base since its a different trans, but its a start. Crack open the tranny filter and see if its filled with clutch material, you'll know it when you see it.

Dont crack anything open its still under warranty. If you think that is what it is then take it in.

Choose your dealer carefully with those mods.

Car is shifting through all the gears now and accelerates fine....I think the tranny was just in safe mode.... but the question is why?

Anyone know any central IL dealers that wouldn't give me a hard time with my mods?

Thanks!

Reseting the codes combined with the fluid draining back into the pan which may unclog it a little, will put it back to normal for a bit, but as soon as it gets clogged again it will slip back into limp mode. Could also be a bad solenoid but thats kind of rare.

well, picked her up today...dealer couldn't find anything wrong...since I cleared the codes they weren't able to see the codes it had when there was a problem...

Talked to the service manager about it...he looked up what codes I had and basically said it is one of three things
1)a fluke
2) solenoid going bad
3) something electrical causing the problem

I decided to take it back and if it happens again I a going to take it straight there....

and if anyone is in central IL, has similar mods, and has a problem, the service manager Kevin at Sullivan-Parkhill chevy in Champaign told me as long as my mods weren't the cause of the problem, he wasn't going to leave me high and dry (and he said that the tranny problem he considered unrelated)
