i got suckered into some shitty deals at non chevy dealers. heat of the moment, drove 2.5 hours to look at a car, woman saying "I want it"! what a mistake....but it led to me owning a camaro

i had similar experiences at my chevy dealer when it comes to warranty and simple work...charged me extra 300$ to swap rims because they were afraid to take the old tire pressure sensors out of the stock rims...and the girls at the counter where you pay...how do you get mad at them? ack. now i gotta go back and bitch cuz they sold me the wrong methanol kit....bloods boiling already...

back when i was married and we went to look at our first car, the dealer said, its normal to let us pick out the car for you. how about this one?

we walked.

we were young just not as stupid. keep the car. being single and with some good tunes and you'll be back on that horse/mule/wagon!

Even that would be a deal hard to believe with no trade in or cash down. 1SS 1LE is just over $37K. Add tax and you start getting close to $40K. $34K out the door would be a great deal!

Dealerships offer "fair" value on all trade ins. So you can go to KBB and put your options in and select trade in value and whatever fair is.... thats what u can expect.

Thats a complete ripoff. Don't blame you a bit. Here in Arizona it is hard to find a used 2010 regular SS with 45k miles for under $24,000. Your 1LE is 3 model years newer with only 4k miles? $28,000 is an insult.

I traded in a two year old 2010 2SS (~40K msrp, which is around 4k less than OP's 1LE msrp) for 26K (KBB trade-in was around 27.5K) . It had 30K miles and they sold it in two weeks! Another dealership where I used to get my service works done offered 20K. They lost all my future business. But OP's offer is even more ridiculous.

Try couple other places, also get an offer from Carmax. If you're not buying from them, at least you could ask other places to do a price match. Also try to sell it through craigslist or ebay if you are not in a rush. Good luck.

I don't know if you have a Carmax in your area, if you do, take it there and they will give you an offer on the spot. Usually a lot higher than a new car dealer. You don't have to buy a car there either. Ive done that before to use as a bargaining tool at stealerships.

GMC dealers don't know what a 1LE is. Hell some Chevy dealers don't either. I bet he looked at the VIN, thought it was an SS....even still a '13 with 4K miles should still be worth low 30s in his computer system....he was trying to steal it.

If he knew your situation, I don't think the concept of "help" entered into that "generous" offer.

Got $32K trade in for my 2012 45th AE with 1,800 miles two months ago at a Ford dealership. But when calling around the range was $28K to $32K with more being closer to $28K.

The used car manager came back with an offer of $28000, I told the salesman we weren't even close and I was just going to leave. We went to the used car building to get my keys and we were standing in the doorway while the manager was sitting at his desk and the salesman told him I was just going to take my car and he grabbed the keys off his desk. I turned around and started walking out of the building and the used car a manger yelled to me he wanted to buy my car, I went back to his office doorway and told him for that price who wouldn't want to buy it, he then told me with an attitude that he was trying to help me and could buy them all day long for that price. I told him I wasn't interested in getting ripped off today and I would have paid a fair price for their truck if he offered a fair price on my trade. He got irate and and kept telling me how he was trying to help me I just snapped, I told him I would knock the look right off his face if he was man enough to step outside , the salesman intervened and told me he wasn't worth it and I just walked out. Maybe I was wrong but I absolutely hate when people cop an attitude and smart off when your walking away, he had every opputunity to speak to me while I was face to face with him while getting my keys. Sorry for the rambling maybe I just needed to vent.
Wow rediculous, I got 25k for my 12' v6 with no leather.

Yeah, that's a low ball number. Every dealer will start about the same.

You mentioned downsizing some cars, but talk about trading into a 2500HD.

If you try to sell it privately now is a good time while they are somewhat hard to find and before the 14s hit the streets. Advertise it nationwide. People will travel to buy a car they want. I have done it. Autotrader & cars.com are two I use.
