Ok, here is the real story. Most of us can afford a ZL1, however, when the SS came along, and there was no release date for the ZL1, we went for the 2SS/RS, then time passed and we had invested over $12K+ on our cars, to make it over the 550rwhp range. Then the ZL1 got a date!!! Now, are you willing to loose a lot of $$$ selling your highly modified 2SS and pay again $70k for the ZL1, the answer is NO.

I think my SS could give a ZL1 a run for its money!! It would probably be a drivers race but I am not that good of a driver yet.

Rogan- I agree with your original statement to a point- Tossing on a Supercharger alone will not make you faster then a ZL1 and will most likely get you a blown engine and driveshaft axles broken.
But everyone I know of that has done a decent amount of engine work on their car has had the suspension modified as well. And most will modify the suspension before Forging the internals due to the cost involved. If you want to do it right, there is alot more involved then just modifying suspension and adding a supercharger. Boost level, Compression, Internal engine strength, fuel delivery, tuning, suspension, entire drivetrain, weight, the builder, driver skill etc, etc.

My 2500 HP Ferrari F50 can smoke all of y'alls, so there.
All I need to do is figure out how to buy a F50, how to make it 2500 HP, and where to find the money to do it all, and your DONE!

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

I'm good with my SS... Besides, it'll be much more rewarding spanking a ZL1 in a lowly SS than in another ZL1 or Corvette..
Just like people with LS/LT cars beating an SS --- it's much more rewarding to them than one SS owning another. Besides, it's not always about the car --- Having a ZL1 means jack if you can't or won't actually drive it to its fullest on a track. You could just as easily lose to an automatic, convertible 1998 Mustang GT. |
