Drivers Going through ALABAMA to the Fest, PLEASE READ
Hello All,
Today I was blessed to sit in a Defensive Driving Class for a ticket I received, no not in the Camaro but actually my truck, spped trap got me at 25 over 45 to 20. ANYWAY, I learned some valuable things at the class in which I will share with you so you don't have to give the Great State of Alabama any free money. Most of this is because of the economy, reduced revenues etc... and cities, towns etc... need to increase revenue 1. All construction zones are in effect 24 hours a day, not just when workers are present. Fines are doubled. 2. Must have proof of insurance at all times, no matter what. Use to be they would write e fix it ticket and let you bring proof later, not no more. Fine 500.00 3. No more 5 , 6 7 or 8 over. They are being told 3 over is the limit. 4. They are getting real strict on lane changes, lights on when raining, not daytime running lights but headlights, following too close..... pretty much anything they can write a ticket for, So Beware. Is it a scare tactic? Who knows, but it's your money. Oh by the way the class was full at 75 and they turned people away, and most in the class complained about not being given at least 5 over, just saying be aware. Have a safe trip to the Fest. John |

I could just hear what an informational video shown in the defensive driving class would say (if it were honest)
.......Speed limits, originally conceived with public safety in mind, have expanded into a convenient and important source or revenue for our state and local governments, funding our pet projects, and hiring more public employees........after all, why be responsible with tax revenue or tax (unpopular) for more revenue when you can use the police power to harass people out of more money while claiming it is for public safety. Come on, half the cars on the road must have speedometers that are 3 mph off.

Oh I agree with you but the fact is they are zapping people left and right, as the disclaimer stated " By operating a vehicle in the State of Alabama you herby agree to follow and obey all traffic laws"
Remember we read a whole lot about football, not traffic laws, lol Just trying to give people heads up |

The laws are generally the same everywhere. It's the enforcement that varies.
Thanks for the heads up, though. If I'm ever in Alabama, I'll be extra careful to behave myself.
