Most headers come with either offroad pipes or HFCs that are specifically designed for the configuration of the header design. If you wanted to keep your SOLO HFCs, you would have to do a bit of fabrication work to make it work, and even then, i'm not sure it would be worth it, when you have so many great deals on LTH's right now.

LS3 SS is right. You can get at least $375 for the SOLO HFCs which would be more than what cats designed to fit with the headers would cost.

No, you actually gain hp without the cats. There is a slight smell but nothing worse than any 60s musclecar has.

60's muscle cars didn't have have that sewer gas sulphuric smell that the new cars do without cats.

Why is that? I'm not disputing what you say, I'm just curious why. Seems like if you put the same fuel in a 60's car and in a new car without cats they would smell pretty much the same. Maybe one would have a stronger smell from running richer, but not an entirely different smell. There have been a number of people here who have taken their cats off and have complained of the nasty smell, though.

My 72 Chevelle would smell like raw fuel just like my neighbors C3 Vette. I can smell the new cars with either messed up cats or none at all and it is definitely a different, and not in a good way, smell. I'm not up on what formula changes were made to pump gas when leaded gas was no longer an option. But I certainly remember when it all started.

What is strange to me is that not all smell like rotten eggs.

Everytime I smell an old Chevy or Ford pickup truck go by, it smells like it's pig rich. When I smell a modern car go by without cats, it smells like someone that's lactose intolerant is living inside their car.

Loud with a nice rumble to it is wonderful, but just plain loud sounds like garbage. You have to have HP to make a nice rumble to the exhaust, but you can have a Honda Civic and make it just plain loud.
