WTT: Black ZL1 wheels for silver

I have a set of Black ZL1 rims on my 2012 ZL1 that I would like to trade for the silver ones. My rims were painted from the factory like this, they are not plastidiped or anything, they are a black glass finish. The wheels are in perfect shape but I would just rather have silver wheels. Here is a picture from when I detailed my car. The wheels are beautiful but it's just too much black for me.

I would love to but you're in Kentucky. Seems lie shipping, plus taking tires off would be a real pain. If I shipped mine what would my car sit on until the new ones came?

I'm not pushing the "I believe" button on this. What's your wheel code RPO from you sticker?

IF he bought the car used, he's describing 5 spoke wheels that have been powder coated.

That's just too far of a drive then we have to get the tires off both cars and remounted, it would just be a pain. If it was a two hour drive I would definitely do it...

The wheels are painted from the factory guys. Reedman Toll where the car was sold from has a picture when they had it brand new and they showed it to me when I bought the car because I also thought they were powder coated. If anyone within a 4 hour driving distance to Philaedelphia wants to do this let me know. I am willing to drive up to two hours to do this. The wheels are in perfect condition.

I believe that you believe they were. I just don't believe they were.

There was a dealer in Vegas that painted their wheels black also and sold the car as new. But they didn't come that way from the factory. I'm guessing because the black wheels were more popular is why some dealers painted the wheels black, thinking people would bite. This is why I say take a picture of the RPO sticker in the trunk and show us. If it says RTQ on it, then we know they were silver from the factory. Like ALL of the 5-spoke ZL1 wheels were in 2012.

So far you haven't proven that they were, only what some dealer says. Which, in my world is right up there with a sleazy politician's word.

Not dis'ing the wheels cuz they do look good in black, but so far, nothing proves they were painted from the factory.

Not a factory finish...doesn't mean they are worth less. If I took a razor blade and tried to peel off the finish to my rim, I would damage the rim. Since you were able to do so without any damage when you first purchased the car, I would say you have something other than paint.

You are dead wrong....I get that all the time with the machine faced that I am running, there are a lot of different oem wheels....look my 5 spoke black/silver machine face say "camaro" on the lip like the 10 spoke, not zl1 on the spoke and guess what, they were painted at the factory...BLACK.

Is that the Chevy accessories catalog wheels that was sold as a dealer installed option?

He is not dead wrong, he is absolutely correct. Your wheels are machined faced and were not available in 2012 even as an option. The ones the op is posting are not machined faced which means that if they are ZL1 rims they were either plasti dipped or powder coated. And if they don't have the ZL1 or Camaro on the rim then they are aftermarket.

The 5 spoke wheels with the machined fangs were LPO option RTZ on later ZL1 (and they claimed 1LE, but never saw anyone with a 1LE with them) and obviously in the accessory catalog to purchase over the counter. They were not put on at the factory. Only two wheels come from the factory that I am aware of for ZL1. The silver/polished fanged 5 spoke and the black 10 spoke. LPOs are parts that are sent to the dealerships that they install in the service bay. And I'm pretty sure LPOs do show up on both the window sticker and RPO decal, so those would be considered "factory".

Speaking of that, any progress on finding the RPO code from the trunk area? If you indeed have factory all-black 5-spokes, they'll be rare as all get out.

I personally think the completely black 5 spokes look great on a black car, though. Even if it isn't proved to be factory.
