Which 18" wheels and tires for dragging?

Can anybody tell me which tires, sizes too, and wheels, will provide the maximum grab, and least cost for dragging on 18" rims? I need new 18" wheels too, which are cost effective, and how wide? Using up drag specific tires at the track, instead of the daily super expensive 20"s, is an important alternative for this working class hero.

Good luck I have asked this question for 4 months. Even tirerack.com couldnt get it right. Beware of the Z06 wheels they require a spacer. Other than that Im along for the ride also.

Allot of people have been going this route.

18" C5 Z06 wheels require the 3/16 spacer for the WIDTH spacing.

One cost effective alternative - check out a set of Beyern wheels. There are many distributors in the US. Beyern makes wheels for BMW. Since they deal in large volumes and they are the correct metric fit for the Camaro, you can get almost any diameter, style and backspace in the $160 - $300 range.

My plan is to buy a set of 4 C6 Z06 18X9.5's off Ebay and split them with a friend.
