The trans in the auto v6 is a hydra-matic 6L50

It looks like you'll use a little more fuel on the highway in 5th and 6th and accelerate like a bat out of hell down low.

6L50 trans ratios are: 1- 4.07, 2-2.37, 3-1.55, 4-1.16, 5-0.85, 6-0.67
1LE Trans ratios are: 1-2.66, 2-1.78, 3-1.30, 4-1.00, 5-0.74, 6-0.50

Other than the really low 1st gear the ratios with the 3.91 rear should help you pull a little harder and make up for some of the lack of torque that you don't have vs a V8. The highway cruise in 6th shouldn't be to bad. I think in most cases the 1LE could use a little more 1st gear but that's how a close ratio gear box is. Once you're rolling it doesn't matter. I don't like using 6th until I'm above 75 mph or it feels like I'm lugging the motor.

There are calculators online that you can use to calculate speed and rpm in each gear using the rear gear ratio, the trans ratios and the tire size, if you want to know how a 3.91 will affect you vs the stock 3.27.
With a good drag slick to get the car to hook, this combo might work pretty well.
What's the redline on the V-6 motor?

My DRs are 26.34in tall compared to my street tires which are 28in tall. So I know that will change things at the track. I think the redline is anywhere between 6500-6800. Right now when I cross the line I am in 3rd at around 6500.

with the 3.91's it will shift to 4th before the line. thats what sucks for us in the manual v6 if we want to run at the strip with 3.91 gears, we have to shift to 4th before the line. redline is over7k in our cars, unless maybe it is higher in the lfx

Try it and see what you think. A 4.07 first gear is a very low gear. You might want to consider a taller tire. That will kill the gearing a little. I have never tried to launch anything on a drag strip with more than a 2.48 first gear, that was with a 5.14 rear gear and a 32" tall slick. That combo would pickup the front wheels and carry them past the 60' timer. My blown alcohol combo is a 1.80 first gear with a 4.30 rear gear and a 32" tall slick. This thing is a beast, it 60 foots in the 1.0 sec range (4.70 sec at 147 mph in the 1/8th) and regularly carried the front wheels at least until the 1 - 2 shift.
You could also consider short shifting first gear and see what that does to your et and mph.
Your combo of 4.07 1st and 3.91 final = effective 15.914:1
My drag combo of 2.48 1st and 5.14 final = effective 12.75:1
alcohol combo of 1.80 and 4.30 final = effective 7.74:1 (not really a fair comparison 1000+ hp and huge torque)

I did a couple of calcs:
26.34" tire with 3.91 gear and 4.07 first gear = 6090 rpm @ 30mph
28" tire = 5729 rpm @ 30mph
29" tire = 5531 rpm @ 30mph
30" tire = 5347 rpm @ 30mph
This should illustrate how a taller tire will mellow the low end a little. FYI it else will help with the top end mph.

Turned out to be a great day, no rain. My son and I went up and met up with Gary. All took awards.
