Look for a spare set and have a body shop color match them. I painted mine and they came out ok. Once you peel the cloth off it's just smooth plastic. Just take your time taking the panels off the door.

I am going to take mine off this weekend. I will post up how it goes. From what I have read you take off all the bolts, and pull straight back away from the door. All the clips are on top by the window seal.

the clips wont break, they pop right out of the door itself and theres one star head screw behind the plastic piece between the door handle.

ok guys, you have talked me into it... i will be on vacation by the end of this week and i will give it a shot, a couple questions though
1. once i get the door panels off what do i use to remove the cloth from the panel? 2. once i get the cloth off what do i use to prep the door for painting? 3. what paint do u guys recommend to match victory red and how many coats? 4. should i clear coat? if so, how many coats Thanks for the courage guys... i will post pix regardless of the outcome lol wish me luck |

Can't answer the color match question. Use clear coat for sure. As for the cloth just peel it off. It's held on by glue on the dor panels and staples on the dash. Use adhesive remover or paint thiner to get the glue off at least that's what I used.
I followed another thread on how to do it. I will post it when I get on my laptop. Pull the small dash piece off and try that as you don't really notice it. The dash parts are black plastic and the door panels are a clear white plastic, I think for the abl. |

Here is my dash with cloth removed and closely color matched IOM.
Door panels are done, you can see the left over glue on the outside, didn't care about that since it won't be seen. This is the thread i followed. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164144 |

Took the door panels off. They come off really easy and over all it was pretty easy.

To remove the panels inside the door panels u must carefully drill out the plastic revits. The cloth pulls right off, the glue will remain but to clean it really well use brake cleaner to have a completely smooth surface. After wiping it clean use a plastic adhesion promoter to help the paint stick better. Dupli-color makes GM matching colors and it covers very well with 3-4 coats of victory red. 3-4 light coats are better then one heavy coat. After the paint dries definately use a clear coat and apply about 1-2 coats. For best result try to use all dupli-color products.

I agree with you on the Dupli color, first time around i used Krylon clear coat and it sucked. Dupli color is the best.
