Question regarding size of NT05R and Mickey's
Would it be possible to fit a Nitto NT05R on a 2013 ZL1? Nitto doesn't make them for 305/35ZR20 but do make them for 315/35ZR20. Does anybody know if those will fit my car?
Also what you boys recommend for Mickey Thompson as a alternative? I'm currently doing my homework but the info out there is really a mess. Sorry if you guys have beaten this topic to death before. |

Get the MT's if you're serious about traction. They hook better and last longer. The 315/35/20 NT05R will fit without a problem. MT's come in a 305/35/20 size but they are slightly narrower compared to the stock tires.

nittos should fit fine as many people use pilot sports 315s on their car. Go with Mickey thompsons as they hook better than the Nittos. Mickey Thompson=M&H>NT05R>NT555R. From my experience at the track.

The Mickey thompsons are only narrower near side wall because they dont have wheel lip protectors, the tread is probably better than an inch wider on what is actually sticking to the pavement when aired down for drag racing.

+3 I hope those 18s come out in October, I'm waiting for this setup also. But I did throw on a pair of MTs, they didn't look to bad, but I just want more tire.

I was sooooo close to doing the same when I recently put set of tires on. Since it's summer and hot as hell down here the wait until Oct is fine. And we had a couple of road coarse dates set and MT wouldn't work well there.

How much do the 20's slow you down? Are we talking 10th's of a second or more?

It's all in the 60' times. 18's will give you more sidewall flex. But to answer your question probably 10th's

Ahh that's pretty good. Just out of curiosity are there ZL1 drivers running 18's full time or is that just better for the track?

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't wanna change the feel in our rides. When those replica ZL1 18s come out I'm sure a lot of us will be running them, I will only run them on race days, I think the ride feel would change dramatically. I didn't even like the feel of the 20" MTs drag radials.
