Help needed, possible diff failure

Turns out, the passenger side axel broke.

That's the sound these cars make when you break an axle. My guess is the passenger side axle the CV is broken.

The grinding noise you hear is the sound of the spider gears in the diff spinning around like crazy because they're making up for the lack of resistance from the side with the broken axle.

Get under the car and look at the CV boots inner and outer on both sides, do any of them look twisted up and/or ripped or obvious signs of damage?

That's my bet...been there done that lol

Stock axles x DR x 4k = 1 less CV in the world....I scored a set of 1LE axles off of ebay for cheap..they have the larger outer CV but still bolt in....inexpensive patch until you drop sum coin on a pair of 1k or 1.5k axles...good luck....peace out

Sounds like axle when I broke the right side one.

Wouldn't ever suggest doing dry burnouts, especially if you're a M6

Haha. Of course not, but you have to have fun sometimes, so sounds like you guys were right, the right side inner boot exploded. Not sure how to tell if it busted but definitely does not look right. I'm planning on getting the diff looked at just to be sure and then regear back to the stock 3.45s. 3.91s are too much for the blower.

So having the diff out now, I plan on getting it regeared to 3.45 with more power in mind. Im going to throw in 1le axels. Since I'm taking diff to the shop also, is there anything I can do to beef it up inexpensively. This was not a planned mod, but might as well take care of it now since it's already out of the car.

I added Hendrix Engineering offset diff bushings to my combo after I broke the axle. I had previously lowered my car and the axle angles were like a boomerang... Which can cause wheelhop and put a lot of stress on the joints.

Pic from a thread on here, not my car:

I want the zl1 diff, but that's gonna be a bit pricy. Right now I only see a auto diff, so I need to wait till a manual one comes around.

The seal that every one is talking about possibly ruining, does that stay within the diff or come out on the axel? I made sure to pull them straight out, but at one point I definitely tugged on it.
