LIAR!!!

Ok guys im a liar......I went out to my parents house last night again and got the vin off the vehicle and its a 86 IROC not a 87...And for the guys with T-TOP 3rd gens does your T-TOPS have IROC-Z THEN THE VIN ETCHED IN THE GLASS?

VIN etching was big in the 80's to make it expensive for thieves to steal the car for resale as well as it made the glass/body parts worthless to try to sell. This was before the VATS keys came out and it was generally a dealer add on like undercoating.

VIN etching was and still is a scam put on the public by new car dealers to make them think they are making their car harder to steal. Several hundred dollars for some stencils put on the glass and etching paste smeared over it? A Value...I think not. Cars get stolen all the time regardlees of this VIN etching crap.

Now ultaviolet vin imprinting on bodypanels works and has been used to breakup many car theft rings. That system works.

Oh, I never said etching worked! Just another way for dealers to screw you.

VIN etching is available free from your local insurance agent. Just call and ask.
