? for dealers
I have not said anything to my dealer yet, I didn't want to get pushed back in line, but how pissed does a dealer or sales person get if you tell them you do not want the dealer sticker on the car. I don't mind the dealer license plate holder but do not want the decal. I am at 3000 now so I figure I should be safe to say something. Thanks for any input.

Dealers do not get upset when it comes to the high dollar cars. They will put the plate on and you can take it off at home. Most dealers also won't put the plate on the front of a sports car either if your state mandates one. However you can ask them not to do it! Remember they are working for you.

I've purchased several new cars in my lifetime, and I've never had a dealer give me any grief over something like that. You see, the whole point in putting the plate/decal on the car during dealer prep in the first place is for advertising reasons.
If you're a dealer and a customer is spending $30k with you on a car, the last thing they want to do is have you walking out of the showroom saying negative things about the dealer. The dealer should recognize that it is your car, so they should be respectful of your wishes. If they do as you ask, you are a happy customer and they know when you are out showing off your new Camaro, you will be more likely to say good things about the car and the dealer you bought from. Same effect as having a decal on the car. |

Just tell them you don't want it. Plain and simple. I did that with my Prelude, my Mom did that with her Lucerne, and my step-dad did that with his Grand Prix. Any dealer worth their salt won't make a big deal about it whether it's a Cobalt XFE or a Corvette ZR1.

Yep tell them you dont want it. Unless of course they are going to pay you for advertising (which if they are good you will be telling other people that they were) I have always told them not to put it on any car I have ever bought. They have a few times and I promptly rip it off when I see it in the lot. Its much easier to do it right away than waiting a few days.

Better tell them you don't want the front license plate bracket also, or they might put it on.

License plate brackets and trailer hitch covers I'm fine with.
Dealer badging on the body of the car? Either take it off or I find another dealer.

The dealer is trying to sell YOU the car. There isn't any law saying that a dealer decal is required so if you don't want it on there, tell them. I certainly told my dealer.

Wow, some of you guys get worked up over some really minor things. Next time you talk to your sales person, just tell him nicely that you don't want it on there. It's really not a big deal.
