I'm actually thinking of maybe going with the Vararam and selling the Roto-Fab so I'll have the benefit of fresh air and I can keep the washer bottle alone! Hmmmm, decisions decisions!
the air scoop and washer bottle move was an affordable and easy project if you decide to go that route, if I had a cai already Id add the scoop and move the bottle it will save you a lot of $$ that can be spent on other mods

good luck with what ever you decide heres the project we did for the air scoopit covers pretty much exactly what it entails from start to finish,

My experience with CAI was excellent def felt a big difference over stock, I think its priced right for what you get but thats my opinion. Like what was said a few posts back there are a lot of great options out there go with what you like best.

PS: have heard vararam def took care of the issues they were having

I ordered mine from Marylandspeed and have had the Vararam OTR intake on my car for about a week and it performs very well for just and intake. The whole power band on the car just seems to be smoother than stock and you can definitely feel the power difference. I give it a .

I was following your thread and even had the Vibrant water bottle sitting on the bench. What you showed was the only way I would have gone. Awesome write-up with pictures.

The only thing I would want to warm daily drivers in the north, is check the bottle often. The good and bad news is the bottle is small. Any of you that have been driving enough years that you've accidently ran out of washer fluid, while driving on a crowded highway with a salt film covered windshield, know the terror of driving almost blind. On a plus side the bottle is large enough that you shouldn't run out, if you keep an eye on it. Another plus is that because of it location, the washer fluid will be pre warmed.

Edit - I hate when I wind up in the thinking room LOL. Back to the pre warmed washer fluid. With under hood temps running say 150+ degrees (just grab a hold of an aluminum intake duct and you'll see what I mean), won't the washer fluid in it's new location get to that temp? If you hose your windshield down when it's 10 degrees maybe less outside with this 150* liquid , could this crack the glass? I know it happens when well meaning people in a hurry throw warm water on their windshield to do a quick de-icing.

thats sucks you had a bad experience but I respectfully disagree the CAI is in line with the prices out there and I think its a decent price for whats offered ceramic coating isnt cheap and neither is the aluminum box, the prices of other units that are plastic are about the same from what I have seen. At the time buddys of mine had the vararam and had issues so I went a different route and Im happy with it to each thier own. I noticed a difference right off the bat and so did a great number of my buddys who have them, im surprised you didnt , the air scoop was an improvement but I saw it more as a sensible cheap mod than a must have.

Added a note to my above post.

I want to again make it clear. I never said CAI wasn't worth the money based on the quality materials and design to work with the layout given. Although I didn't get around to trying it with a scoop, it makes sense that the scoop would be well worth the time and money to make a very good box style cai even better.

No I didn't feel a difference between stock and the CAI, despite the proven added HP, but I'm also the kind that 99% of the time doesn't listen to the radio because it takes away from my driving experience.

Again, if there was no Vararam, or it didn't exceed my expectations, I'd be all over the CAI w/scoop. And fwiw, CAI guys have great customer service as well.

There isn't one air intake that fits everyone.
