Camaro Tires-Hard To Find
There I was...minding my own business on Saturday afternoon when a car ran me off the road into a curb. It burst the rear tire, put a huge cut in the front tire and gouged the front wheel pretty bad. I didnt get a tag number. I felt lucky to avoid all of the telephone poles.
So this morning I am trying to find replacement tires and it is very difficult. Even the Chevy dealer could not locate any. I finally found one tire store that was able to find the rear in Charlotte NC and the front in St Louis MO. I checked Tire Rack and they showed them available, but I really wanted to deal with one local source to do all of the work. It will take a few days to get the tires here. (Tennessee) So a word of warning...presently our tires are a hard find. The sizes are 245/45 and 275/40. (Pirellis of course) I am having my insurance adjustor out today to check into filing a claim. I have a 500 deductible and the tires alone are 580, so I might decide to eat the cost and find a used wheel on Ebay. I dont want my rates to jump over the cost of a wheel. Anyone ever file a claim over something similar to this? If so, did it affect your rates? Thanks.....

For what it's worth, Tire Rack will send them to a local shop for you. There is a whole list of local shops Tire Rack deals with, you choose the shop and the tires will be dropped shipped there ....

There's a ton of people here selling stock rims and tires. Look around. They will sell them at a major discount vs buying new.
I know. I went through it as well. In fact, I should have priced around for my tires. But, I waited two days for it to come in...and spent waaaay too much. |

i would do like you say and just eat the 80 to avoid the insurance headache. if my insurance company raised my rates over somthing that wasnt my fault i would have a new insurance company.

Checked back with TireRack and decided to go with them. I got the 2 tires for 450 including freight.
I only need 2 so I decided to stick with the P Zeros. Thanks for all of the quick feedback!

A buddy of mine says the Continental tires are a better choice for the Camaro, can anyone verify who is running these?

I'm putting Continental all season/winter tires on my SS this fall. Per two members I saw on camaro5 and my tire store they seem to be the best choice for cold &/or winter driving. I priced them a few months age- they were about $1300.00 installed.
