all this will stay in motion when the cylinders "shut down", its just the injectors (and possibly spark plugs) for those cylinders will not activate.

....eeeh, not quite. I know for sure that the valves deactivate, too. That's why they have trouble putting it in some engines, not enough space in the valley for all the crap to make it work. And I distinctly remember arguments about the backpressure created, because the valves were closed - people count figure out what the point of it was.
But you did get me on one point...the little cyllinders are not on the camshaft, the pushrods are always touching it, the "De-ac" lifter is in between the lifters and the pushrods, my bad. Interesting read on the LS4 (you'll have to scroll down a bit): LS4 Quote:

vtech? ROFL LMAO
Just had to do it But there is a difference between vtec and vvt. VVT works all the time and VTEC, lol, works after 6000rpm or something. I once found a good video on it but cant find it anymore. :( |

now that's something that I didn't know...hmmm.
Well now that I think about it...vtec utilizes 2 completely different Camshaft profiles, whereas VVT uses the same profile, just adjusts timing constantly.... (VVT is better in my book. But nobody reads my book.) |
