Mine stickered at $33,635. Whoever has the deepest pockets will go faster, but in the end my car looks better than any Mustang.

The problem with the GT500 is that it still looks like a Mustang! Other than that it is a very nice car.

Yep, the whole styling preference is purely subjective. Pretty much buy what you like and enjoy it. If I personally liked the Camaro more, I would have bought one, since I cut a personal check for my Shelby.

Imagine that. Considering the early Camaro's were built using the same long hood, short rear deck cues as the original Mustang. And the S197 derives its styling cues from the early Mustangs. And the Gen5 Camaro uses that same long hood, short rear deck styling, it really boggles me how anyone say that "looking like a Mustang" is a bad thing.

They got a 12.9 second quarter mile in the SS. Cool stuff.

Here's a couple comparisons I found near me.
GT500 http://www.bohnzone.com/VehicleDetai...2-6931703.html Camaro SS http://www.chevrolet.com/tools/vehiclelocator/trimResults.do?year=2010&gmModelId=150&searchType= 0&postalCode=70345&proximity=50&pvc=19984&exterior Color=GCN&interiorColor=AFM&optionList=GAN^AFM^2SS ^Q9K^LS3^MN6^GM3^AE4^UYE^W1H^B7X^VTD^19242930^9222 1879&pageFrom=byo $8,000 difference, is that even enough to Supercharge and tune a Camaro? forget about suspension. On another note I paid $29,000 for my 2006 GT off the showroom floor and now have a total of $40,000 invested in it. so for just $2000 more than a Camaro I have 125+ more RWHP. |

A lot of the $$ goes to forging the Shelby motor, making it bulletproof up to 800+HP. A GT500 long-block will cost $16,000 just for the motor......... so you will not find a new GT500 going for $30k..

I think all of us GT, GT500, SRT-8, and SS guys on here need to stop bickering with each other and band together against the ricer community. We all know the GT500 is a beast. If I didn't have my extremely modded 97 Trans Am running 11's in the 1/4 I would own one. But seriously, the GT500 is faster than the SS and SRT-8, but it is supposed to be. I love parking around GT500s and SRT-8s when Im in my SS. We look like a pretty bad ass car club that no ricer group would dare mess with. American muscle all the way.
