We know the HP difference, what's the torque difference? Both run neck and neck,so it's a choice of shifting or not.Your better off going with the auto!

I bought the auto and would do so again. I had a 2004 CTS-V. It only came in manual, and I did enjoy it. This time around I did not want to row the gears myself.

For me...I don't own autos. Simply don't like automatics because to me, it takes part of the driving experience away. I enjoy shifting the gears and I like to play with the revs...down shift and/or keep it in gear to "jump" when I need too. I love dropping the clutch and leaving my mark on the pavement and the sound of rolling thru the gears! I could go on for days...but it's nothing like an automatic or even tap shifting...manual cars to me are just more fun to drive, more in tune with the driver and feel more sporty!

To me, it's about the driving experience and not about the hp difference...although I will say, why pay extra money for less hp?

i agree its not about power... that can be added with ease if thats the only reason to get an LS3. i think the real important part is what transmission configuration you enjoy most. for me, i hate automatics. thats one reason i will never own a mercedes AMG. i like to be in full control of the car, especially if racing or autocrossing.

For me this is easy!

I chose the A6. If I had it to do over, I'd still choose the A6.

My '67 Camaro is a M5. I enjoy shifting those 5 Richmond gears. If I feel the need for the excitment... I take it for a spin. I madly love shifting those gears and melting asphault and rubber.

Back to the 2010 Camaro. Different car, different ride. I'm very excited about it's A6. Open the "NoWeeds" diverters, set the tranny in tapshift mode and turn off both traction control and stibility control and away I go.

Now then, when I just want a nice smooth cruise, I leave my diverters closed, shift into drive and enjoy the smooth ride of an automatic. Great Car, Great Machine.
Again, different as night & day. Two different machines all in one, all together.

So, I love both, shifting a Manual and shifting an Auto or letting the Auto shift itself.

If I had it to do over, it would still be the 2010 SS/RS A6!

L99 for me. After 6532 miles, I would still order the L99. I'm very pleased with my choice. I like the paddle shift option if I want to "go up threw the gears".

Its my only car and I would still by the LS3/M6. I just like how it sounds with an aftermarket exhaust rowing the gears. I get more enjoyment out of that part than the little bit I am stck in traffic...

If I can do it, so can you.

And yes, it is worth it in every way imaginable. Cheaper, more HP, funner to drive. Why get the auto?
If you were a pansy driving an auto, driving a stick didn't change that. I don't have any regrets at all going automatic, but I wouldn't if I went with the stick either. Get what works for you and don't give a rats @ss what your "peers" think. And yes this dead horse has been beat to a pulp!

I was talked into an Auto while I was enroute to pick up my M6. That's how much I cared which Tranny I got. Both have positives and negatives and for me they balanced out to the point that it was moot.

I'd still choose an L99. The way some folks drive around here I'd rather have both hands free to avoid collisions!

Auto all the way. Since you can put the auto in manual, I don't really see the big deal. I feel like I've got both.

don't pick based on the 26 HP, especially if you are going to mod the car. If you truly enjoy shifting and pushing that clutch in and out then get the stick. If you like the convenience of an auto then get that, it's plenty of power. The tap shifter thing is kind of interesting but not something I generally drive around doing. I am happy with the auto and going to do some mods coming up in the next two weeks including full exhaust, supercharger and CAI. By putting the car around 500HP to the wheels I am not worried about that 26HP loss compared to stock stick shift at all. Now do the same mods to stick and end up with even more HP but I think anything over 500 at the wheels is really fine for a daily driver car.
