Anyone that did that damage and didn't know it would have to be in a coma....hey, maybe that's why they hit you? That really sucks. If I couldn't find the person, i'd pay out of pocket and stay away from the insurance company. You may really need them some time! Good luck!!!!!!!

If you find out who did it from video, don't just swap insurance. Call the cops! That's hit and run.

I hope it turns out to be an easy fix for you.

I know how you feel, I backup and hit my back bumper and put a six inch indentation. First estimate $934.00. It was my fault but I still felt bad.

I'm guessing bumper covers don't come already painted? That's weird since the supplier paints them for the factory.

No, I mean YOUR comp insurance. If you were to find the perp, you would file a claim on HIS collision insurance. You don't need to give him yours at all.

As far as your comp coverage, this is what it's for, to pay for things that happen to your car that wasn't your fault. I've used mine 3 times in the last 4 years, got hit in the truck by an uninsured driver, got a rock in the windshield in the Camaro, and got a piece of shrapnel thrown up in the air by an F250 on the highway that caught the front bumper of the vette, had to get the bumper repainted. All were paid for by comp coverage, however, you are liable for your deductible. The bumper re-paint was $669.94, so I doubt you'll want to eat that, unless your deductible is $1000.

i had my bumper painted in the same area... for all the work it was less than 200... no sense in reporting to your insurance for a comp whether its 100 or 500 deductable... the price you will pay just for "telling" the ins. company is enough to say no way and just pay to get it re-painted yourself. I did that years ago just for overspray that I got off myself and it costed me 1800 bucks over 2 years in surcharges.

Sorry to see that, looks like the whole thing will have to be painted. It looks right through the paint on the 3rd and 4th pics.

Victory Red is pretty expensive, I've had peices for mine painted and they haven't been cheap. I was told Red is the most expensive color before pearl paints.

Just talked about this with Dad, the deductible for us is $1000. That might be the same as what it costs to get new bra and paint.

That is a hit and run... How could you not know? You'll probably have to replace the bumper assembly and new paint, sorry you have to lay out money for someone elses carelessness and I feel for you. The same thing happned to me .. My 1988 formula was hit in the lot at work and the person that did it drove off, never found out who.. Dent in the rear quater panel the size of a football!!
