The manager of emergency service in Fort McMurray said today they had evacuated 88,000 thousand people in 24 hours with zero deaths or injuries. There is only one road in and out of there, you can go north or south on highway 63 and thats it. They had 100 firefighters there this morning and they were dispatched in only three areas in the city, the downtown core, an industrial park and the hospital. There were no resources for any response to residences.

Sending prayers to all members, and all who have been affected by this. Also all those fighting the fires. More evacuations in northern Alberta and there's another fire west of Edmonton. Amazing to see the stories of those who are sending supplies and helping to keep people moving who have been stranded on the highways. Just horrible!!

Hey guys! A big thank you to everyone for their prayers and thoughts. My wife and I along with our dogs are down just outside Spruce Grove west of Edmonton, living in our camper trailer. Good thing I bought it last year!

The car is still in Fort McMurray at the house, and our house has not been damaged visually, just not sure if we have any smoke damage. Won't find that out until we go home, whenever that is going to happen.

Thanks Merc! We are doing good. I have been north of Fort Mac now for over a week. I'm part of the skeleton crew at Syncrude. There was more of us until 4 days ago when everyone was evacuated except for a select few of us had to stay behind.

We are safe up here and had to move to a different camp as the one we were in was being threatened by the fire. Looks like I am heading out of here Sunday morning when my relief flies in. Looking forward to being back south with the wife and dogs. Also with the "tentative" date of June 3rd when we can head back home, things are definitely looking up. Can't wait to get home and see if there is any smoke damage, and to see my car again! Hopefully the battery is still good! LOL
