I have the exact marks on my top 95birdible. This is my daily driver and only car so I don't want to take in to the shop just yet. Hopefully a good solution shows up from Chevrolet/GM soon.

You are lucky you can drive it everyday. Mine is going to bed in 2 weeks until May. I think everyone should post up a pic of their top issues in this forum. Just 1 so we don't overload it. Maybe we can get a response this way. Keep it civil please.

I agree, I am concerned!

My Dealer has my replacement top on order, and I so hope I am not disappointed, sure wish GM was leading this, I had to give my service department the bulletin information, and insist that washing and brushing the spot with a brush while wet was not going to be a solution, and the fix is tape and glue, HOW long is that going to last past my warranty!!! When the service manager took one look he ordered the top, but will I be having the same issue again in another 5 months????
Love my Camaro, but a bit disappointed with this whole top issue on a car that cost over 40K.

Jeff opened up a case for me before it was even looked at. My service manager called with my case number and they said replace it. Dealership wanted to keep it over the weekend in hopes that the new top showed up. Told them nope I'll take it home and let me know when it is in so I can take it over to the guys shop by me to fix. The only other person driving my car is my wife. That is my main concern though. I will drive this car at most 4K a year between May and October. I have 3 years with a warranty. So I could be SOL with 12K on it? No thanks. I spent over 41K on this car with tax, title, and license and paid cash for it. I want a 15 year fix or at least want it to look good after 15 years of ownership like my Firebird Vert did. They did it before, no reason not to do it again.

Expecting GM to teach each dealership on top replacement isn't going to happen. The number of verts sold just won't justify the cost. However the TSBs should have a good pictured instruction on the proper replacement of the top that anyone could follow. From what I have seen at the trim shop the instructions were not straight forward on the attachment of the top around the back side windows.
I would expect GM tech service to step up on this one !

Mine has small rub marks. I'm going to take it in for the dealer to look at, but I don't want a new top.

Just to be devils advocate...I wonder what the actual percentage of vert tops with issues. One of the natural phenomenon in online forums is you typically hear a disproportionate number of negative complaints for every positive, because if people don't have an issue they rarely post.

I'm not trying to downplay the problems you guys have clearly had with your verts, but I'm just curious out of all the verts sold, who has actually had top issues?

I'm only a little over 300 miles and I may have the start of a wear spot on the drivers side but it really does not bother me...yet

considering EVERY top folds onto itself, and has little peices of metal rubbing into the top due to the design of the car....every single car will have the rub marks soon enough

I'm not even gonna get started here... the majority of people already know my position. That said, my car goes in for the unprecedented 10th time tomorrow... if that's not some straight up manufacturing bullshit@t, I don't know what is!

I just went to a car show today and they had one of the slp zl1 750hp verts and the top had the rub marks and that's a $120,000 car. With the dealer sticker still on it.

Becky's dealership - no surprise, best sales transaction I've ever had too!

Just like Rodger's Chevrolet, it would be worth it for each interested Chevy dealership to send one of their own to the class to learn how to do it right.
Over the long run, they would be much better off since they could do the repairs themselves and not have to farm it out to another shop, plus they would make their customers that much happier if they can depend on the dealership to do quality repairs.
The happier their customers are, the better the chance that those customers will return to that dealership in the future for either service work or to buy a new car.

Seems like a little effort on Chevrolet's part and the dealerships part is a win/win/win.
Corporate training is going the way of the dodo. Everything is as virtual as it can get now, hands-on anything is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I know becasue I'm a technical IT trainer and my job is almost gone - just hope it holds out another 15 years.

And nobody will care enough to raise the bs flag. The masses of consumers don't demand quality, therfore less than exact manufacturing tolerances and material quality are widely accepted. This is why I used to be a big Merccedes fan - until they too succumbed to the numbers game a dozen years ago, and their materials (especially interiors) fell way off in quality. Just sayin' it's what I've seen experiencing the results of auto manufacturing by working on 1970 to 2011 cars.

I took ownership of my cg 2lt rs 3/18/11 it is a plastic tird, wife loved the look and I was also stuck by the lines and we bought it and it is a curse.
driver door not alligned right trim coming off burn marks on top and dealer tells me car is built buy machines not humans that is what you get. well for 37k and that answer my lawyer will beg to differ. for everyone that was caught up in the hype for this car and the mistake to buy it I am sorry for all of this. back to Nissan for true quality sports car.
