Question: If I trade for a newer model, will I take a loss??

I was entertaining the idea of trading my 2012 for a 2013. If I were to do so, would I take a huge loss? For those of you who have traded for a newer model, what was your experience? Was it worth it? Not set on it but wanted some opinions. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you owe on your current ride.

Either way it'll be a massive loss. At minimum a 5k swing. Even if he owned the car outright he'll be taking a loss because he's trading it in on a newer model, only way to avoid a loss would be sell his car independently and then buy the same year/options.

It doesn't depend on what you owe. You will take a lose if you owe or if your paid cash for it.

Keep the 2012 and enjoy it.

Thanks for the responses. Just wondering because I see posts of people who do it all the time on here. Wondered if it was worth it.
