Anybody remember the "H.O." series Z28's???

I believe they were released in either 83 or 84. My Dad bought a brand new black one when I was 8 years old and he was 33, now I have a black SS and I'm 33...kinda cool in a nostalgic way.

Anyway, does anyone know exactly what engine upgrades the H.O. series camaro came with back in the day? I know there must be some members here who rocked an H.O. back then!

In mid-1983, GM introduced the L69. The L69 is the H.O. engine you are talking about. The L69 is an upgraded version of the LG4 but with flat topped pistons, a better camshaft, two air intake snorkels, a wider exhaust system, the wider catalytic converter from the Corvette, a 9.5:1 compression ratio instead of 8.6:1, richer secondary metering rods, blah blah blah... I think you get the point. It was only offered in 1983, 1984, limited production in 1985, and 74 made for racing in 1986, but 11 were made for the public.
If you read my sig, details, and username you can tell I have one.

1984 Z28 HO

I have one too. Handles great! Maybe better than my new 2010 SS? Not much for horsepower but a blast to drive. The HO package was pretty cheap for what it added. I think it was around $750.

i've got magazine articles on it. It doesn't sound like much now ( it was 200 HP if you put in premium) but from where they were coming in the 70s and early 80s it was a big jump back to being somewhat quick.

I had a blue 84 Z-28 that had the 5.0 HO. Only thing I remember about it is that it had the Rochester quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor.

L69

My brother had an '84 Denim blue L69 Monte Carlo SS. Great performance for the time period.

You know why they made the H.O. don’t you? Because a Ho needs transportation too!
