GM is finally giving some style to the family 4-door. To tell you the truth, I almost bought an Impala instead of my Camaro. My dealer told me that Impala's were due for a body style change for the 2014 model year, so I decided to buy a Camaro and wait for the new Impala in 2014.
I don't know now if I like the looks of 2014 Impala. The side view profile is great, but I don't like the styling of the headlights, or the tail lights. Maybe I'd have to see one in person to like it. |

Not sure why my comment was removed from Motortrends youtube clip on it, but the 2014 Impala is the ugliest car since the Ford Edsel. GM has had some doozies (Aztec, SSR, etc.), but this tops 'em all. I rather drive a Chevette than that behemoth. I can't understand why Chevy designers dropped the ball on this with when there are clearly better cues to pull from within their current lineup. If they really wanted to, the could have learned from Dodge's rebirth of the Charger or Ford's resurrection of the Taurus. Dodge went with appealing retro cues while Ford went modern using cues from other current models. The only saving grace for that car is it's interior. Other than fleet car sales for rentals and maybe municipalities, I predict this car fails miserably.

Uh oh, better watch out. I posted up about this new Impala in this section a couple weeks ago and got a formal warning from the mods saying it should be in "General Automitive - Other Cars Discussion".
But back to the 2014, I hate it. I've been an Impala fan for forever, except for some of the god-awful designs of the late 70's into the 80's. I even had a 2005 Impala SS for a few years prior to the Camaro. With some bolt ons and a little extra bling it was a quick, good looking car. Then GM laid an egg, pretty much literally, with the current (2006-2013) design. I was hoping for better things for the 2014 but, and I don't care how many people disagree (it's their option) I think it's going to be a semi-clone of the blah-looking Taurus. I see very little, if any, Impala heritage in this new design. I vote NO!
