Loose LS3/M6 shifter knob

Anyone else out there have a shifter knob coming loose? Scanned earlier threads to no avail.
In last two days, stock shift knob for LS3/M6 is starting to twist left/right--previously very solid/tight.
No significant difference in twist between neutral or in gear.

Got standard dealership response: Bring it by and we'll take a look. First time they have heard/seen the issue.

Sounds like a good enough reason to me to get the Aftermarket Hurst Shifter!!!! It's worth it, you won't regret it!!!

Mine has a little play in it. I would consider it more than normal. Have not done anything about it as I will be installing a short throw at some point.

Dealership Update: "We have two new SS's in our showroom--one a Transformer--and both have play in the shifter. It is normal wear/break in"

Looks like I am living with this one. Bummer. I do like the thought of the Hurst Shifter (have same in my '70 Vette); I'm just procrastinating...

My shifter knob was rotating freely this weekend with only 500 miles on her. I decided to gently pull up and the knob lifted off the rod! I came home and looked at aftermarket shifter installation videos and they state that the stock knob is a press fit on the shifter rod. I pressed my knob back in place with the palm of my hand and it now feels solid with no twisting. I don't have any confidence that it's not going to work loose again.

I viewed their installation instructions to learn how the stock knob mounts

Obe1, it is just a press fit. Just hit it hard a couple of times with the heel of your hand and it should stay put. Mine did the same thing when it was new.
A couple of good sharp hits and it never came loose again.

Thanks; a got the same info from a MGW install video although they referred to a "click" when pressing it back on. No click involved but I did what you suggested and smacked it down several times with the palm of my hand.

I didn't know George has already got a shifter for the 2010 Camaro but I love his shifter in my C6. Night and Day difference from stock. And, OBE1, you should know, you helped install it
