VHT Painted Calipers - 1LE Design

VHT's paint line is the best I've ever used. The clear coat looks like Dupont's High Image clear that I used when I painted cars a few years ago. Thanks to thkfast for the write up!
I've used Dupli-Color caliper paint kit in the past but VHT out shines and goes on so much easier. Prep was key. I used 220 grit sandpaper on the factory "Chevrolet" and "Bremo" logos to sand them completely off then used 320 grit to finish that area. Everything else was scuffed with a red scotch-brite pad making sure to get into all the dips and groves. I covered the tops of the brake pads with tape so they wouldn't get painted.
I also scuffed the rotors and sprayed them VHT metallic silver. I painted everything yesterday afternoon and they should be good enough to drive on today. Now, I can get the silver paint off the brake pad's path on the rotor.

Yep, got them on eBay. Be sure to push the stickers down on the paper they come in or the letters will get stuck and break. I broke the "o" and filled it in with a sharpie. It's actually in the picture above but you can't tell.

Nice, just did mine in red but used duplicolor I had from my 2010. Sand papered best I could but a pain with all the grooves and angles

I scuffed, cleaned, and painted the center of the rotors and all of the vented edges so they do not look rusty anymore. The paint where the pad makes contact with the rotor comes off as soon as you use the brakes. I didn't mask it off because I knew it wouldn't sick to the smooth part of the rotor and I have no paint edges.

Is there any difference between the VHT engine paint and the caliper paint? I'm wanting to do my calipers yellow. I found yellow engine paint but not caliper paint.

Taco,

I think it would be alright to use VHT engine paint on your calipers. There's nothing "special" about the appearance or finish of caliper paint.

One thing that happens on these forums is someone stumbles across a product or procedure that works so well, others want to know the exact products used so they get the same result. There's always a little fudge factoring allowed.

I think the engine paint does not shine like the caliper paint. I would also get the VHT clear coat spray and do several coats over the paint. The paint already shines good but the clearcoat makes them shine a lot better and brake dust can be easily removed.
