Question for those with Borla exhausts
I recently spoke with a very respected and trusted shop owner in our area about installing a an axle-back Borla Type S kit for my 2010 SS. He said he'd do it but pointed out that he has had some trouble with Borla exhausts because they never seem to fit right without some adjustments being made on his part. Otherwise the pipes can be uneven or not level with each other... just wanted to know if any members with Borla exhausts had any issues like this?
Also he has never installed them on a Camaro, closest vehicle was a Corvette. But he always has issues with Borla on other vehicles. Thanks |

^ I would not do that... dealerships will overcharge you a ton... I did my Atak cat back on my car and it was a breeze. For an axel back the job should take you about 45 mins.
I would just do it your self and get the enjoyment of working on your car. If not a local muffler shop could do the install way cheaper then any dealer. |

Ya I would liketo do it myself but have an issue because I dont have ramps or a jack low enough to get underneath the car.
Switchback it is an A6... Also one more thing, I read that you would have to cut the OEM pipe if installing an axle back, I was under the assumption that being an axleback it was just a bolt on. Did you have to cut anything? |

I have the borla s axleback on my camaro and you have to cut the oem mufflers off, the borla instructions will tell how and where. If you are installing the cat back borla setup it is a bolt on set up. Happy motoring. |

Axle back you have to get the sawzall out.... also, the Borla is going to make your AFM very noticable and annoying.... if you are willing to tune the AFM off (lose warranty), no problem, but if you are trying to MOD and keep your warranty you REALLY want to do some research on AFM and aftermarket exhaust options for an L99 with AFM still activated.... look at Solo with a "J' pipe to control the aweful 4 cylinder exhaust issues you will experience. I learned the hard way... which may be the same path you are on... let us know and we can help you save some $$$$.... |
