Continental DWS Rears...
Man so excited from reading all the reviews and thumbs up about these tires! Got mine installed today and I CANNOT stand them... feels like your riding on tires that are low on air coming around corners and god forbid you need to make an evasive move at highway speeds.... may find yourself in a wall. Excessive tire roll...

I do not share that opinion at all. Sure the tire does not have the same 220 rating as the oem 275s but still.

Maybe your suspension package makes up for it. I dont know I was a little irrate yesterday knowing that they would not be returnable. I guess my only option is to find a cheap set of stock on here and try and sell them. I can tell a world of difference.. My bald pirrellis stuck better imo.

What size tires did you install? Maybe they are too wide for the 9" wheel?

I love my Continentals DWS.
Agreed, the sidewall is not as stiff as the Periell's. But I enjoy the smoother ride with my lowered springs. Plus they are going to be WAAAY better in the rain and cold.

Have you tried different tire pressures? I know my stock fron Pirelli's are very sensitive to tire pressure and too little and they wander on secondary roads and feel like soft sidewalls.

to the OP, do you have any suspension upgrades (Sways, drop springs, trailing arms, etc)? I do not have ANY tire roll with my DWS's.

I have no suspension upgrades. As far as tire pressure goes I was going to bump up the pressure this afternoon. I'm just not sure how much would be overboard as far as uneven tire wear. Right now I'm running 36psi.
I dont see how people can say they dont have this with the same tire. I know how my car drives, rides and feels. It's like your woman you know how she feels and how to drive her. When that changes its drastic. I drive spiritedly daily(probably why I avg 16mpg) Maybe they would feel OK if I followed every speed limit and recommended speed limits on curves. I understand that theyre all weather and I cant get what I had as far as traction compared to stock... but damn..

Actually, I run mine at 40 psi and get great tread wear. My original Zeros are still on and have more wear to go after 22,000 miles. Wide tires need extra pressure to support the middle tread area.

that may be the difference with my ride. I do have Pfadt springs, sways, trailing arms to really firm up the ride. I had that on my car when I got the DWS's, so I did not notice any difference in ride. The backend feels really solid, even driving "spirited" on occassion.
I'm not saying you are not feeling the difference, but it may be those tires are making the understeer worse. |
