Anyone esle have a problem with MGW bushing intsall? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I 'am in the middle of the MGW shifter install and there is no way in hell to get the factory rubber bushings into the new arms with out damage!!

I'am going to plan B and will post pics.

It was the hardest part of the install, but no damage. I love this shifter, i'm glad I went with MGW.

I had to use channel locks for mine. George at MGW must have Popeye forarms 'cause it is pretty comical how easy it looks in the video!

I used dish soap and no way it was going in. In the video it shows him rotating the bushing after the install and mine would not budge!!! My parts came in today from Mcmaster Carr and The mod will be finished tomorrow.

I think I used some grease on mine. Then gently squeezed it in a vise. They were definitely stiff going in.

What an absolute PITA this part of the install was. I would gladly have paid a little extra for the bushings to be supplied and pre-installed. That section of the video where he eases them in like butter just pissed me off!

I pressed mine in using a little dish soap and my thumbs!

ohhhh ahhhh solid bushings......... Gonna Play Beach Boys "Good Vibrations " as you tool down the road?...... Theres a reason they are rubber.....
