Might as well wait another year or so for a used 2012 ZL1.

I plan on purchasing a base 1SS with the 1LE package.

I don't need leather (although leather is nice), I also don't need any fancy gadgets, or add ons (such as HID's, upgraded stereo, sunroof, my link, etc.).

Give me a VR 1LE w/ black cloth interior or a AGM 1LE w/ black & grey cloth interior w/ NPP exhaust & I'll be a happy camper.

That should keep the cost around 37k.

You're surprised by this?!? A well optioned 2012 SS had a sticker price of just over $40,000. Add $3500 for the 1LE option and $900 for the NPP exhaust, and you're at $45,0000. Honestly, that's about $2,000 less than I was expecting it to cost. I was preparing for the worst case scenario. Expecting a very well optioned 1LE to "sticker" for about $40,000 seems incredibly optimistic to me.

Did your dealership say the 1le is ready for ordering?

I'm with you 1LEE (nice handle!). I'm starting with a 1SS (don't even like leather, south Texas and all), no RS, just the 1LE in AGM. Throw in some floor mats, and I'm off to the track as many weekends as I can squeeze in!

Yep!!

I want to keep the car as simple/basic as possible.

I really like the look of the cloth seats, and coming from a car with leather, it will prob grip better when throwing it around the track

You can submit your order to your dealer. It just won't be accepted into the system yet. Your dealer can try to submit the order every week until it gets accepted. Orderers should start to be accepted within the next 3-4 weeks, as long as there aren't any SNAFUs.

Go with a 1SS. Every other option (save for maybe the RS package) and everything on the 2SS is purely comfort and convenience. And talk to a dealer willing to offer you discounts. There are good ones here on the forums that will do it for you.

Yeah, leather seats, bluetooth, etc. aren't necessary. For a 1LE, in my opinion they aren't necessary because of the purpose of the car.

1. The steering wheel has more space so it doesn't feel like it's in your lap and has telescopic adjustment.
2. The speakers are flush with the door and do not pop out into your leg space.
3. The console is nice and compact not intruding into the driver and passenger leg space.
4. The console is more compact with a simplier design yet still accomplishes the same level of functunality.

I agree with you about the 4 pack guage. The placement of it is poor.
I've always said the minor gauges on the Camaro should be up on the dash where I've indicated in the pic below:

That way they'd be immediately visible to the driver with a quick glance without having to move your eyes too far from the road.

That makes a lot more sense, but it would take away the "retro" look of the interior. Although with the old style steering wheel gone they might as well. The retro look is slowly disappearing so might as well put the guages in a place they would be useful.
