Problem is, if both the ZL1 & the GT500 are released at roughly the same time next year neither company will have the time to get their car rated at just enough to beat the other guy. Plus, with SAE certified hp ratings, there isn't a whole lot of wiggle room. So if the margin between the two engines is more than lets say 1%, I don't think it will be possible to give them near identical ratings.
In my opinion, the only ratings that matter, when dealing with this type of car is which one are Performace numbers! As far as a total package, I can't see the Shelby beating the ZL1, but time will tell!

Either way, it's going to be an interesting year!

I see the ignition sparks are all ready for main engine start.

That car doesn't need solid rocket boosters to launch.

was watching the ZL1 checkered test car around a track on youtube....there was a car that lapped it. Was it an Audi? The ZL1 roars and I love the stance.

If it's the video I think you're talking about, it's an LFA.

.

I was almost ready to buy a '67 project car & put a 454 or something similarly nasty in it when they finally announced the go ahead for what turned out to be ZL1.

Either way would have been beastly, but the new ZL1 will hold the road like it has claws instead of tires compared to an extra heavy 67.

There's no way on Earth I could come close to matching the tech the new ZL1 contains.
