Finally joining the ranks

Hey guys,

After years of drooling over 5th gens, and more specifically the Z/28 when they announced it, I finally managed to get my stuff together and got lucky!

I was looking at 2 different 2015 white ones down in Houston that had 2900 and 8200 miles respectively, but they were just outside of my price range and would have required a sizable down payment.. so I looked at 2014 at random and found this old girl. 43k miles on her, but all daily driven, no track. One owner, older gentleman, who ended up trading her in because he couldn't push the clutch any more. There's the usual paint scuffs etc. for the mileage, but I don't care. I'll repaint at some point down the line like I did with my 92 LS swapped Camaro I built.

By far the absolute best thing I have ever owned. I drove it back up from Austin averaging 22.7 mpg, and barely even having to lift a finger, even though it was on 35. Such a blast, so much control, and such a looker. It's a good thing my wife knows I love her as much as I do, otherwise she might get jealous with how I look at this car. Made it even better that I got her for a song.. damn near stole it.

And, before anyone says anything, I have all relevant threads, posts, and pdf's saved/bookmarked. I've read so much on the car since I got it last week that I'm overflowing with knowledge.

For having the miles she does, she's in amazing shape, although I am getting more noise from the rear than I am comfortable with... even with everyone else having it. So, she's getting new fluid tonight. Splitter is in superb condition, amazingly.

Mine was very loud in the rear from day one. I added dynomat to the trunk. nothing is wrong. there is just no sound deadening in the trunk or under the seat.

Outstanding. I can only imagine what a $steal$ that was.

It's good to hear it's driving so well with those miles. Not that I have any doubts, but I hope to be at that level someday with mine.

Welcome to the club!

It's only on low-speed tight turns. I know they are noisy.. can't have helical gears and NOT get noise, but it's also for my peace of mind. The first owner took care of it, but I saw no service record for the rear and it's only a quart. I build and repair all of my own stuff anyway, so it's only like an hour of my time to make absolute sure.

Dan, I really got out of there like a bandit. $35.5k for it.
