I cant wait to see what kind of dyno readings people get with the ls9 s/c . I'm glad that gmpp is offering these products finally hopefully they could come up with a competitive priced kit for the ls3

A few questions about this GM SC.

Will all dealerships be able to install and tune these units and back the warranty? If I order it tomorrow how will I really know that my dealership or one near is qualified to put it in and tune it properly?

Or will it be only select dealerships that can actually do the install?

Why does it show a price drop of $1,000 on the 2nd day it's offered just seems weird.

And I understand this will work on the auto L99 but is there an extra cost involded by getting rid of the AFM or VVT? This is something that is done with the tune correct? No additional hardware or work needed to put it on the L99 I hope.

What do you guys think?

Wow, if GM will keep this under warranty I will gladly buy it and even have the deal install/tune it.

GM warranty and 650 hp? I highly doubt it....but it would be cool.

Looking forward to following this thread.

Thats a lot of power to put through the stock driveline and still have a warranty...

Surely a better way to go for todays SS owners rather than trading in for the upcoming z28 if they just gotta have the HP..

I got this from the c6 forum...so this seems to cancel any warranty ideas we all might have...

"I'm sorry I cannot be on the forum 24/7. I spoke again with GM Performance and Powertrain support. As someone else stated, they don't even know everything on this yet. Kenny tells me this is listed as a complete turn key in the notes he has. When I brought up the questions listed above, I was told "Huh, I really don't have an answer for you." This kit/package is so new, not even the top level support staff at GM have all the needed information. The part number list does not show anything with pulleys or belts, so I guess the official GM answer is "Huh, I really don;t have an answer for you".
I can tell you that he was able to confirm that this is going to be sold as off road use only, which means, the parts will be warrantied against manufaturers defects, but you can kiss your factory warranty good-bye.
I will post more information on it becomes available to me.
Thanks
Kevin"

guys
don't hold your breath on this having a warranty (or not voiding your powertrain warranty for that matter).

i would say that overall, GM probably won't do much for the warranty on it. This is what I like about Ford. They have deals setup with a few tuners (Roush, Saleen, and some others) where it does not void your warranty as long as it's done by their authorized shops and their authorized parts. I would think at the very least GMPP would have some things, such as this, that would still be under factory warranty.

It's not 650hp and the ZR1 has a supercharged motor that comes stock with a full warranty. 638 hp.

Same for me, I was waiting on the Whipple, but if this turns out to be the real deal and a GM dealer can back the warranty, both of C5's will get it!
