I thought the gauges would be nice, and I do think HUD would be cool. I should also note that we opted for the better audio, though I question its value sometimes.
Basically, from what I've seen, the major price differences come when you order the car brand new, custom. The 2SS looks to be an expensive option at that time. Example:

You want to order an SS, but due to budgetary concerns your options are 2SS, or 1SS+NPP+1LE+Recaro's. Then, I would totally take the 1SS! A 1LE 2SS with NPP is so damn expensive on the build sheet, you may as well buy a ZL1 at that point.

However, once the car is used, the premium goes away. I'm the kind of person that was raised believing cars are ultimately terrible investments and to never buy a new car - buy a "slightly used" car. I'm not kidding, I bought my car with 5,340 miles after the owner traded it in after 6 months and saved over $10,000 off sticker. I got my 2SS cheaper than most 1SS's for the same model year and mileage.

So I guess it depends what you are going for. The bad deal IMO is buying the 1SS and converting it into a 2SS over time. If that's your plan, you better be getting a slamming deal on a 1SS to make it worth it. I drove over 2 hours for my car. The car before this one I drove almost 3 hours each way. I suggest everyone really stretch out that search radius to get a good deal.

I keep seeing 1SS owners mention weight, is there really a significant difference in weight by adding 4 gauges, a windshield projector and leather on the seats? Anyone have the #'s handy?

So the way I see it is you really get (2) 1SS for the price of one if you get a 2SS(someone please check my math though).
not sure your math is right

2SS
- 1SS
=====
1
or maybe 100

a S - S = 0 or cancel each other

I've owned a 1SS & a 2SS. That being said I have a preference to the 1SS. Maybe not a fair comparison considering the 1SS was a 2012 and my 2SS is a 2010.

Funny when you really think about it, this same conversation could be held for 1LT and 2LT cars considering they are the same deal but just with the 3.6 under the hood. Then if you wanted to break it down further LS vs the 1LT.

I specifically picked a 1SS manual with no sunroof for the following reasons.............

I wanted the lightest weight V8 Camaro Chevy offered.

The "leather" seats are crappy, as the cloth seating is bland but at least I didn't pay thousands extra for mostly vinyl seating.

My budget afforded the car I purchased outright, a 2SS would have required me to get a loan, for a toy. I didn't really need this vehicle so I believe financing would have been a poor choice.

2011-2014: Approx. 93,000 2SS builds

I like owning a rare car.

Agree, I like owning a 1SS car where there were only 2457 of them built...

Ive also heard that the 1SS is lighter, not much, but its lighter...

I Love both 2SS and 1SS... They are both beautiful...

Cant imagine someone comparing these... LOL

And mine came with the gauge cluster, bluetooth, USB, sterring wheel controls. etc...

Love them both...

It's just options, get what you want. There is no right or wrong.

I've had both. If I were to order one today, I would get 1SS w/ Recaros, then add the HUD, that's really the only option from 2SS I would want.

EDIT: Good luck w/ your cars everyone.

Not sure how much anyone elses car weighs.

I have a 1SS, I weighed it on certified calibrated scales and it weighed #3781

I do agree if cost is an issue or the 2SS features are not something you need then a 1SS 1LE is a great choice.

I had a 1LS and went to a 2SS/RS 1LE night and day yes.
Because some people want an Auto

It's in other threads on here, but it's only a bit over 100 pounds. Not enough to make me not buy a 2SS. If you want options, they add weight. I bet the convertible adds quite a bit.
