Chuck Nash Chevrolet in San Marcos, Texas blew my motor up! *Update on Pg. 17*

If anyone hasn't seen this thread yet:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299556

****STAY AWAY FROM CHUCK NASH CHEVROLET IN SAN MARCOS, TEXAS****

I took my car to the dealer for the lifter noises. The dealer decided to install a new cam and lifters. The moron mechanic did not install the cam correctly I guess. They have been VERY vague with the reason this happened and not very forthcoming at all with details.

I just got a call from the service manager and he said:

"The tip of the cam sensor broke and that caused the motor to lose timing. When it lost timing, the valve might have contacted the piston. We ordered new valves and are having them overnighted to us so we can get the car fixed."

He kept mentioning how HARD and DILIGENTLY they are working on my car for a favorable outcome.

I told him I wanted a new motor and if not, they can keep the car and GM can buy me out of it.

I am SO friggin pissed and upset. I DO NOT want a "repaired" motor.

If the guy can't install a damn camshaft, how in the bloody hell do they expect to "rebuild" the heads? No way.

EDIT:

Damn dude, that blows! Good luck with your fight. I would want a new motor or at least something they didn't touch internally.

I've read where GM has replaced motors due to reasons not as major as the OP's.

What about the piston that slapped the valve? I would push for a new motor if it was myself.

The engine you would get, would be a rebuilt or refurbished one most likely anyway, but it would be better than what you have.

I would push for them to replace the whole unit, rather than continuing repair the block that had real damage.

Agreed, the piston may be damaged, is the cam sensor located internal to anything or is all external and the parts just ended up on the floor?

Yeah, replace my engine, you farked it up.

IF the valve(s) hit the piston due to the loss of timing, what damage was done to the piston(s).

At the very least, I'd ask to see the damaged parts and ask what kind of warranty the repaired engine will have.

If they dug into your engine, they will be providing you with a running car. Pretty clear cut.

Cam sensor is only to tell the PCM the position...it has NOTHING to do with cam timing....that is done with the chain and gears and any simple backyard mechanic can do it so he is filling you full of BS. This is what makes the "stealership" list. BS'ing customers drives me nuts.....and it is so prevalent.

They think all car owners now days are clueless.

Good luck, but demand a new motor. PTV interference is not good.

Here's my reasoning behind not replacing the entire motor; though I know some really dont care, but its no longer a matching serial # to the car. If they blew my motor, and opted to replace it, 2 things would happen. Theyd install an LS7 in it at cost and exclude ALL labor charges, OR get me another car.
