pretty simple.. what do you guys think would win in a roll race from say 40 50 60 ish mph? the gt500s are no joke as you all know, will the zl1 be able to take it? 2013 gt500 with the 5.8 and its s/c will be making many zl1s nervous..

It would really be a drivers race man. but the GT500 will probably have a little advantage because its a little lighter than the ZL1.

I think the rolling start definately benefits the gt500. It it were standing start I would vote ZL1.

Nobody even knows the weight, quarter mile time, 0-60 mph time and you guys are already trying to figure who is faster

Who cares about the 2013 gt500. We are still in 2011. You have no idea as to the specs of the '13 gt500, and remember, the 2013 ZL1 will likely have an answer to any gt500 improvements.

Lol, what makes you say that? Did the SS make any improvements to answer the 2011 GT? That's not the way car companies work, if it was there would be significant changes every couple years

Exactly, thats the point I was trying to make, you cant speculate about 2013,14 and so on. The 2012 ZL1 was built to directly compete with the current model gt500, not the gt500 Ford plans on making a couple of years from now.

I haven't see any official weight release for the ZL1 yet. But I'm positive that its gonna way more than the GT500.

The new GT500 is rumored to have 600-650hp. So IDK how the ZL1 can compete with that.

Road and Track recently had a shootout of the GT500 and the CTS-V Sedan. If I remember correctly, the CTS-V (4 door sedan) slightly out performed the GT500 in the 0-60 and the quarter mile, and that weighs 4300 pounds (although no official numbers yet, I can safely say the ZL1 will not weigh more than 4300 lbs) with less power than the ZL1 will have.

Saw that vid.

The ZL1 is sure faster than the current base GT500.

There's some rumors that the next GT500 (2013) will have some upgrades to compete with the ZL1. thats its gonna have upgraded Boss 302 Parts and a slight power bump with a new engine (probably a forged coyote 5.0) and a TVS2300 blower.
