ZL1@15psi vs. GT500
I was surprised to read that the GT500 runs 15pounds of boost. No wonder it has a HP advantage. Doesn't leave much room for improvement though.
If you jacked a ZL1 up to 15psi it would walk all over the GT500. Am I correct?

The ZR1 runs 10.5 PSi for 638 HP, but is stronger internally than the LSA. GM will NEVER put the boost up to 15 for reliability reasons and I am sure to safely handle it, it would need to be beefed up, so we are in a modding war and there is no fair comparison, we might as well be saying the GT500 needs .4 liters of displacement.

A more accurate comparison would be to bolt on a TVS 2300 and spin the blower at the same blower rpm as the GT500. Since the GT500 is a 5.8 liter 15lbs on it may only be 13lbs give or take on a 6.2 with a TVS2300. Of course the ZL1 would have to have a better heat exchanger and intercooler to handle the added boost but the motor could totally take it. Boost is just a measure of restriction.

The GT500 has a bigger supercharger (2.3, compared to the ZL1's 1.9). I don't think 15 PSI is possible with the small 1.9 blower on the ZL1. If it is possible, it won't be reliable.

The blower on the ZL1 would just be blowing hot air at those boost levels. You would need the bigger 2300 that is on the LS9. Even then, you have to consider why GM would use different internals in the LS9 if it were as simply as just pumping up the boost and having a 640hp LSA with stock reliability.

where are you guys getting this information lol? people are running 15 psi on zl1s and cts v's all over the place. the lingenfelter 2.38 upper pulley is about 15 psi. people are seeing upper 600's with minor bolt ons and 15 psi of boost wether it be the upper or lower pulley. the zl1 stock rods are good for over 700whp. theres people running around with a cam and bolt ons making 730 on the stock blower.

i would take the 15 PSI stock and under warranty than a modded ZL1 tuned/modded to keep up with a stock GT500 .

We 15+psi on a few Zl1s. That's perfectly safe on the LSA. Heck we run 15psi on the LS3s. Many passes at the track with no issues.

While this GT500 is badass, I dont see the point of it in this thread since it has nitrous(how much of a shot I dont know)...
Some plp got away on a stock bottom LS1 with a 300shot BTW.
