XD700/5 Install Questions
I have purchased a JL Audio XD700/5 and the FARK from ********, I have never installed an amp in a car before. Would this be the only thing I have to do, "run 4 AWG wire from the battery to the amp as well as the ground from the amp to chassis"? The FARK takes care of the rest right?
I am also looking at getting a sub for this amp, would the JL Audio 12"3v3-4 work with this amp. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome. |

Install a large fuse or a circuit breaker between your battery and amp. Use good large wire everywhere and insure a good ground. Congratulations. I'm looking forward to this same mod.

This is almost the same build I have the only difference is I used a 12"3V3-2 as it was a better power match to the XD700/5. System sounds great.

This post really helps me a lot. I just installed the XD700/5 last week. After amping the Boston Acoustic's with the JL amp, it really needs some more bass and I was debating on which sub to go with!

The specs for the 700/5 indicates: 5-Channel Class D System Amplifier, 75 W x 4 @ 4 Ω + 300 W x 1 @ 2 Ω. This means that the Amp can supply 300W on the subwoofer channel to a 2ohm speaker. (@4Ω the Amp will supply 180W) The 12W3v3 is available in two versions, a 2 ohm subwoofer (12W3v3-2) and a 4 ohm subwoofer (12W3v3-4). If you look up the specs on the 2 ohm subwoofer you will see that the optimal range is around 300 - 400W. This makes it a good match for the 700/5 amp. The setting I have on my amp are: Channel 1&2 - HP Filter 1X. Filter Freq - 80 Channel 3&4 - Filter Mode OFF I can't remember what I finally set the subwoofer channel to but I think it was 12dB Filter Freq - 80 I have some pics from my build, if you PM me your email address I'll send them to you.
