Just a thought on window tint laws and front license plates in VA. I am active duty military stationed in VA, but a legal resident of Florida. I went through Sterling Chevrolet. They titled the vehicle in Florida at my request. Florida does not require a front plate or annual emissions inspection, and the legal window tint is 28% front side windows and 15% rear windows. I intend to go 35% all around and no front plate.

That's cool my friend. Definitely take advantage of that.

Where are you stationed if I may ask? My last duty station was Henderson Hall. Got out (back in the day - 1978) and just stayed in Virginia.

I'm stuck in the beltway this tour. I hoped for Quantico, but the traffic hasn't gotten me yet.

Yeah...I know that this is an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone in MD has gotten a medical waiver for a window tint? What's the process like after you bring the state troopers your doctor's note? Do they call up the doctor right then and there to confirm that you have whatever ailment is listed in the note?

I love the humor.

In VA they update your registration to show sunshade. It tells the trooper i am ok down to 35. When he pulls up your registration in his database he will see it. He does not need to know why. Not his business.

Say what you will about the VA inspections, I like knowing that most of the cars around me are pretty safe. I hope to move to FL one day, and visit a couple times a year, there are some scary heaps on the road down there.

Do wish we'd get rid of the stupid front plate law, but mine has holes in the nose anyway now....

I had my windows tinted (i ave the waiver) at VA Solar Tinting just on the south side of Richmond. They did an awesome job. $195.00 . They removed the side panels, rear desk lid, back seat and door panels ... to do it right and complete.

It looks awesome.. the film they use is high quality tint (polarized etc)

Good luck !

How did he give you a repair order on a tint thats legal. I thought 35% was good pretty much nationwide...

VA is 50% up front unless you have the sunshade waiver from dmv.
